I'm walking distance from a yacht club, so I'd grab my pullup bar as a weapon, and take the car down there. Untying a 40 or 50 footer should be no problem with a big kitchen knife, and then it's all downhill and glory.

Well, during a zombie apocalypse in Bergen, this is my plan.

The Hiding Spot
I'm currently living in a three-story wooden house in the middle of town, without any real strategic advantages - there's four ground-level entrances, plenty of windows, heatproofed but otherwise weak walls, and not very solid doors. This isn't a solid place to hide out, as there's too many structural weaknesses that could be exploited.

About 20 minutes walk away is a medieval stone tower - currently a museum, but structurally sound. Lots of narrow passageways and limited access points, making blocking access to safe spots easier than regular houses. It's also very roomy, making it good for storing potential excess goods, loot and other people as needed.

This is also military area - chances are there'd be a military storage of sorts here, for supplies and weapons.

The Weapon
Well, all I have in my flat is a blunt katana I bought in Japan a few years ago - not really suited for cutting anything. There should be an axe in one of the storage rooms right outside though, so that's my chance of dealing some damage if it's neccessary. I'd be able to break the lock outside with a hammer I've got.

Getting there
Tough. If the streets are flooded with zombies who can hear and smell me, moving the 20 minutes I need to won't be easy. There's a local garage just outside my house giving access to cars, but considering how littered the streets probably will be (by corpses and crashed cars), a car is not really an option here.

There's a lot of uni student one-roomers around, and with students, there's a lot of bikes. I'd find a bike, break open the lock with my hammer and axe, and try to outrun whatever zombies I'd run into.

The Supplies
This is the tough part. Yes, there's plenty of shops around, but they'd unquestionably be swarmed by zombies, so it's not really something that'd be easilly looted. If I'm lucky and there's food and water in the military part of the tower hideout, then I'm fine, but I cannot count on that. I need another idea.

There are usually a lot of private boats docked just outside where my tower's at. I'd rummage through those, see if I could find any canned / preserved food and bring that back. It should be relatively low-risk, compared to entering shopping malls and the like.

The Wait
With supplies and a blocked safehouse, I should be fine for now. Hopefully, I'd find an unprotected network through my laptop's wireless connection, unless the zombie apocalypse made all the infrastructure (and with it, electricity) collapse.

If I have power, I should be able to get online at least, and announce my presence on local web sites to other locals. Hopefully, I'd get contact with someone else and find someone to work with.

Without power, well, what can I do? I'd have about three hours of battery on my laptop, but that'd be pointless without any wireless routers around me to connect to - they'd all be off without power anyhow. I'd be waiting on top of my tower, looking for lights and signs of people not zombie.

The Escape
But I can't stay here forever - if someone comes to get me, fine. But if they aren't, I'll just be here untill I either run out of food and starve to death or the zombies somehow get to me.

The tower is, as I mentioned earlier, just next to a port of sorts. I'd try to drain fuel from parked boats while finding one that seems durable and easilly controllable - mark here that I have no real experience driving boats. With some mad luck, I'd find one with a key in the ignition, or hidden in the boat somewhere. If not, well...

There's usually some sail boats docked here as well. While running a sail boat properly is much more difficult (I'm thinking) than a regular electric boat, I'd still have more luck getting some basic effect out of a sail boat than a electrical boat without a key. Hopefully, I'd be able to maneuver out of the harbor and not sink myself on the way.

Out of the town, I'd now scour the shores looking for survivors.

Zatic's post actually has a lot of really good advice. Although in my situation, I'd probably go to the mountains over going to the coast (I live in California). I imagine there will be a ton of people actually trying to get to the coast so there will be a shortage of shipping vessels. Plus, more people means there will probably be zombies. I'm more experienced backpacking/hiking in the mountains so that'd definitely come in handy as well.

As for my things to pack, I'd bring: rope, tape, pocket knife, matches, flashlight, hatchet, medical kit, iodine tablets, soap, sleeping bag, a wind up radio, a winter jacket, change of socks, and if i have spare space, any other clothes. I should be able to fit most of this stuff in a medium sized backpack and I think in this situation, packing light is the way to go--it'll give you a lot of flexibility to adapt. My weapon of choice would be my baseball bat.

Other considerations: I do drive a SUV, so I'd probably get as far out as I can with it. Most of the spare space in my SUV will be filled with water, food, and potentially other weapons I can find. I might also risk going to the sports store to pick up a hammock (assuming that zombies cant climb). If I'm going solo, this is particularly important so that I can sleep without being completely exposed.

The worst part about my situation is that I live in a really urban area so that means small crowded streets with tons of buildings. I'll either hit tons of traffic or hit tons of hidden zombies. Realistically, I'd probably end up just stealing my housemate's Vespa to get to the outer rims of the city so that I can steal a SUV. I also happen to live in the most liberal city in the nation, so there is only 1 gun store in the entire city (it's inaccessible). I'm probably going to have to rely on my dodging abilities rather than my killing abilities for the first part of the escape; that is, until I can get myself in a car on an off beaten path.

I think the most important thing is that you have a plan.

Theres only one place I really think of going, I have a very wealthy friend whose dad owns a big engineering company here in Brazil, they live in a private estate and have excelent ties with the local police on all levels, on ocasion when visiting him, I saw like 8 police cars over there, having a break and eating some BBQ, that place is like the unnofficial regroup point of all cops on that area, huuuuuge ass wall, 5 minutes from the beach but further away from actual boats.

Could hole up in there until someone came up with SUVs and a plan. but might as well hole up for a dew days until the chaos stopped for a bit and you could scout the situation without it changing every 20 minutes.
