This is copy/pasted from another source. It may or may not be relevant to your problem.
- Go to Sound in the Control Panel’s classic view - Select the Recording tab and right-click any of the devices listed. - Check “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show Disconnected Devices”. - Stereo Mix should show up. Set it as default.

Google
Realtek HD Audio Driver
Download
Reboot
Set Default to Stereo Mix
Unmute your Mic on the Mic tab so you can hear it
Up mic boost to 10 db.
Lower Stereo mix to about 75
You'll have to set things like ventrilo and skype to Mic(they will be set to stereo mix after this) so you dont echo. Grats

You require something called "Stereo mix" to be in your recording devices if you're using windows 7. It comes with sound blaster or some other sound cards. Some laptops don't have it though. That's why I don't use windows 7. XP forever.

Realtek only solves the problem if you're using their hardware and drivers though.

There's a few options.
Option #1: Newer versions of Fraps (not sure when it started but I have 3.2.2) have the option to record a second audio source. Set that to your microphone, and just let it do all the work. It's super easy but the audio quality can be a little rough.
Option #2: The stereo mix option. Do what motbob said above and you should be able to find your stereo mix channel. Then just make sure you have your microphone set to listen, and that you're using stereo mix as your input. This sounds like it's the closest to what you were doing on XP.
Option #3: Just run a separate audio editor (such as Audacity) and edit them together afterward. This is what I've been doing for non-live feeds just because it gives me a lot more control since it keeps the voiceover audio separate from the game audio. It's a little bit more work but IMO it's worth it if you're planning on doing some post-prod editing anyway.
Option #4: Get a program called "Virtual Audio Cable". It's a bit confusing to set up but basically what it does is create new audio channels that you can configure with their own inputs from however many sources you feel like. You'll have to buy it (or, er, find a copy) but it's pretty slick. I use this when I'm streaming through justin.tv or ustream.
Hope that helps, glad to give more help if you need it

Untrue actually. The software enables stereo mix even if you aren't using their sound card for some reason.

I don't know but I've tried the realtek option before on my laptop. Didn't work. The link you gave is spoilt though. After you tick the accept box and click next, the page says that the object has been moved and loops back.

+ Show Spoiler +I have a feeling that you don't have a Stereo Mixer on your laptop. You didn't have sound on your stream if I recall correctly, right? So this might be able to solve both problems. You need to download Virtual Audio Cabels. They have a free trial, so you should try that to make sure it works. After, you can buy it or get the full version through other methods. After you have Virtual Audio Cables, you will probably need to reboot and while your computer is starting up, hold F8. It should bring you to advanced start up options and you will need to disable Driver Signature Enforcement. You will need to do this every time you turn on your computer. Well I basically followed this guide after: (except I used it to stream instead of Paltalk) However, on Part 2 at 2:12, I skipped his step of setting the default devices to the virtual cables...it was an accident, but it worked. I'm not too sure about Windows 7, but on Vista I needed to run it as administrator too. I'm pretty tired and my memory of setting up this was a blur, so if they have any part that wasn't mentioned in the video., ask me and I will try my best to help.
Edit: nevermind lol!
I'll keep my help in the spoiler...one day someone who is having streaming problems on their laptop will gander upon this post...one day

The ability to record a mic in and the wave out is left up to the audio chip running the show not all chips support recording mic and wave out at the same time, most after market cards do some can in fact take even more sources. Both XP and Vista and 7 can all tap into that, OEM's like dell and gateway used to block the recording of wave out in their drivers. Which i believed was deemed illegal and so most current ones sold today will not have that issue.
