2/CSL:
lots of people think that adding 2v2 instead of ace match will help the normal schools, I think they misunderstood the problem. Clearly removing ace match was a WISE decision and their reason are acceptable but 2v2 in sc2 is the whole new concept. With map balance and the sharing resources + control system, there are thousand way you can abuse the game in 2v2 and win. I dont say 2v2 is stupid but clearly, its a total different game when you compare it to 1v1. Not even counting terran with the mule mechanics + resources sharing will rock your day in 2v2. There gota be someway else we can settle this without using 2v2 and ace but to be honest, i rather choose ace over 2v2.
3/PvZ:interesting how the inflow recruitment has lots of P and Z which give me quite a chance to take a look at the current state of PvZ.
As a Protoss player, i have to say 1 base vsZ is totally stupid. your gates way units will melt under speedlings and spine crawlers as Z getting their 3rd when you push out.
Forge FE is showing more and more potential day by day. With a decent knowledge about "relative" timing and a good building placement, you can rebel any sort of early pressure Z throw at you. Z most likely will tech to muta OR nydus.
from here, to counter nydus, get a probe and set it on patrol around your base while build pylons around the place. This will force Z to get mutas which can easily be countered by stalkers and "non-stop-phoenixes-production". Yes, you heard me!
now What i did was 9 pylon at wall and 12 gate 14 forge (14 gate if 1 scout an expo early). now depend on how early you have to fence off the first wave of lings, you can get away with our without the 2nd gate b4 cyber at the wall. the earlier the cyber, the better. btw, just to be clear, i wont tell you nexus/cannon timing since its mostly depend on scout. once you get cyber, get 2 gas asap for stargate tech. phoenixes are cheap and provide fast scouting, by the time his 1st wave of muta came you should have at least 4 stalkers 2 phoenixes already.
that was what i was doing on ladder before i play vs gerbil, a member of my school's csl team. He has a speacial loves for roaches. well, i lost to him 1-2 but im quite sure i fenced off his roaches push well enough using VR once i scouted them with my initial zealots. also keep that in mind that stalkers are good vs roaches.
conclusion: FE in PvZ is totally nice and safe. You push by getting upgrades from forge most likely.
4/ New Patch and PvT:
as you know they gona nerf zealots build time and WRAP GATE CD .... god, how the...
to explain this, we have to understand that Tanks, are no longers the problem vs any race. in fact, most of the time these days we only see tanks in TvT. Marauder is the all-time unit. Why? bc it has stim and deal HUGE damage vs armor. And what is armor? building! other than Terran who can lift their bases, P and Z struggling with drop marauders sniping off their building while they CANT do anything about it. Making marauder as T is something i called "guarantee damage" which mean no matter how you use it, each of them will always pay for their cost. what is the good encounter to marauder as P? NOTTHING! what ever you get, they just gona stim and run away from you! VR -> run. immo -> run. colossi + HT -> stim and snipe!
now dont get me wrong, i love PvT more than i like PvZ but i cant imagine how to win vs a T playing perfectly. If T play perfectly, i believe no Protoss can win vs them what so ever.
5/ PvP:
have anyone told you charge lots > colossi? No, its always the opposite right? colossi even deal bonus vs light. So what happened in the game i played vs Combat-Ex today? he has like 5 colossi with range + about 10 or more stalkers pushing in while im attacking his force with 2 phoenixes, thousand charge lots and 2 immo? I won! reason? i got +2 attack when that happen.
Yes, upgrades turns out to be really good in PvP especially when you are zealots heavy. Zealots are cheap, with a delayed 2nd gas, you can get 1000 of them early on without problem. Zealots with upgrades are much better than stalkers with upgrades since their attack speed are much faster so in 1 minutes, the bonus damage came out from the zealots are much more than from stalkers. So what counter zealots? NOTHING! except Voidrays but what to worry when you already has like 3 phoenixes in the air with your excessive gas by going zealots? :D
I wont upload the replay between me vs Combat-Ex but its a pretty fun game where i tricked him that i am 2 gates zealots rush and 4 gating to put him in defensive position while sneaking an expo myself. he got himself quite a number of colossi and push out but i stopped him with great upgrade timing.
Folks, start getting the forge early and delay your 2nd gas as protoss. Get your 2nd gas at 24-26 or smthing, its good for both PvT and PvP.
6/Life: looking for a room for rent next semester :<... so far so bad. The CS waiting list is not working out so i will end up taking 4 courses next term OR 4 good courses + 1 suck course. Listening to some K-pop, light music, anime "light" ost and Kentor's Zelda OST.... FU kentor
