Hotel in New York

Should probably write some info on myself but I´ll skip that for now.

I´m heading, with my girlfriend, to New York the first week in november and we are currently looking for a hotel. I´ve been to Hotels.com and other sites but it´s a jungle out there and it is usually so much better to actually get first hand recommendations. We´ll be staying for 6 nights and budget is somewhere around 150$-230$/night. If you have any recommendations feel totally free to share.

I'm a total tripadvisor.com addict...the website is amazing and hasn't let me down yet in terms of the accommodation I've picked from there. I did a quick search and came up with these 3 that should be in your budget and are rated fairly well:

You do have to be aware of fake reviews on that website but they're usually pretty easy to pick out...reviews that sound more like adverts for the place and from accounts that only have 1 contribution.

Thanks, they seemed popular as only the Chelsea Lodge had rooms left.

well they dont look like they have a lot of rooms in the first place.

Just a thought. Make sure when you enter New York state, you stop off at a state visitor's center, (or something like that near the border), where they should have coupon books for all sorts of hotels across the state.

My family went to Virginia Beach and saved $30 on a $150 hotel and then over $150 on a $360 hotel using these coupons (I mean BELOW the expedia/travelocity price, not whatever they would gouge you with if you just walked in). That's the catch though, you can't usually book a hotel with the coupon price, but during the school year I don't think availability will be a huge issue. hf

Not sure where in New York you're going to be, but the New Yorker Hotel is kind of trash except for the diner downstairs. Not much else to contribute though
