I've been playing better and better even with just 3-5 games a day. I love playing! The last 2 games were tvp, tvp (re) and tvt.
The tvp I beat with a 4 fac push after his faild reaver + frontal attack. He then asked to re. I did fe with mines and he did a fast attack again walking his 4 goons into my mines, and loosing his shuttle + reaver with no losses on my side. Pretty sweet. His macro was good but he took too many expansions too fast, and when my army came out and beat his over aggressive control I was able to take him out.
The tvt that got me to c- was pretty uneventful as he only had 4 scvs at his 3rd all game :S but still made me work for it with big "straight to your nat" attacks while I tried to be fanshy with fast drops. Anyways. HEyo!!! See you on iccup (for another few months I bet)

Ah, I wish I could have that goal again to get to C-. So much easier than getting to B- from C+ :/. Congratulations.
|
Congratulations man, I never got to C-, I would of like to but I got lazy
|
It's gotten a lot harder too now that SC2's come out.

congrats!! and nice pic lol. Improving at something hard is amazingly satisfying
Imo ranking up is all about knowledge, and therefore theorycrafting. (some other blog i just read said this was frowned upon in TL, is this true?? I have no idea how/why..) Theorycrafting gives you ideas, which with testing gives you knowledge, which gives you confidence, which gives you more desire to game, which leads to mass gaming, which gives you better mechanics, and after success gives you more desire to theorycraft and mass game etc, its just an upwards spiral.
Comparatively the downwards spiral would be mindlessly mass gaming, which leads to losses, which without knowledge leads to confusion, which depletes confidence and motivation, leading to less gaming, worse mechanics, and giving up in general.
Anyway thats just what ive concluded after all my trial and error. Whenever i got into a rut while gaming id have to theorize and until i thought id "got it", after which id mass game again with my newfound knowledge and confidence.
keep on climbing that ladder man

Dragon...holy shit. Hoooooooolyyyyy shit that's a ridiculously accurate description of what happened to me my last 2 weeks of iCCup. I became so discouraged I just quit, and with iCCup shrinking cause of Sc2 I have no intention of starting up again :S

gj man :D i remember how happy i was once i was C- myself anyone that played on iccup know how hard it is to get higher when there are smurfs/koreans/better players everywhere around . the biggest problem i had once i hit C- myself some time ago was to keep playing, and not get afraid of losing your precious rank . I just wanted to keep this beatifull color near my name and got afraid to play. Try to not fall into this and go higher ^^

I'm trying to get at least D+ before Iccup completely dies; its getting really hard to find games these days. =(
Its frustrating because I discovered Iccup maybe 9 months ago and now with Sc2 out I feel like I missed the train. Nine months might seem like a while but I failed to play consistently enough to improve; I was so overwhelmed with learning build orders and trying to figure out how to multitask effectively that I was reluctant to ladder. My only previous competitive RTS experience was a few games of Warcraft 3 on battlenet when I was just a kid lol.
I was wathcing Stryker's BW stream and it got me motivated to put Sc2 aside and try Broodwar again. Now I don't think Sc2 is bad but BW is soooooooo much better. I'll be on Iccup until I can't find any more games, won't touch Sc2 until I have to.

Huge achievement man, I played for 3 months straight as zerg, and made it to D+, then Sc2 came out, and I was too lazy lol.

Thanks guys. And dude I played since March of '09. It feels long! I mass gamed mindlessly and hopelessly for the most of it with big improvements and then massive plateaus . Keep focus! Gluck! I need it too.

Conrats!
My goal is to make it to C- in the next four months; didn't play much last four months because of school and lost a lot of mechanics.
Making it to D+ before was so satisfying, so I can imagine how making it C- must feel! Glad to see there are still ICCUP players trooping on.
Hopefully within next few months I'll be joining you in yellow.

When I first time achieved blue ranks I played only 3-5games a day and it took less than 90 games. The trick was that I watched carefully the replays of my losses and saw what I did wrong.
And Good job btw!

I love that picture; it's so inspiring! :D

i remember getting to like 1800, and so close to my first D+ rank, then i went on a complete slump and fell to 700. 2 days, and maybe 15-20 games later, D+! it was so gratifying to get it too since i was soo close and then just died, but came back.i'm sure i could have gotten to C- if i had kept playing, but i have been playing SC2 for most of the time, but i still play a few Iccup games every now and then.
|
Getting to C- now means sooooooooo much more than before SC2 came out.
Congrats!
|
Congratulations ! Just make sure to hold on to it.
|
I decided to go for C- 3 days ago, just got to D+, C- here I come
|
I remeber how proud i felt when i hit c-. Just look at my quote :D. But its alot harder to get there now so Good Job!!!
