To be specific, Wuhu..
Anyways, I'm at my grandparents' house right now and there's really nothing much to do from 1PM to 5 or 6PM.. I think there's an internet cafe (or wang ba, I think.) that's pretty close and I might go there to play some LoL.
If anyone has been to an internet cafe in China, I have a few questions..
Are the internet speeds relatively fast? At my cousin's house I could download LoL at round 100kb/s with P2P.. are the cafes' connections faster/slower?
Do most cafes allow younger teens in? I remember a few years back I wasn't allowed into one with a cousin.. now I'm 14 though; would I be turned away? (didn't China ban gaming for kids in internet cafes? >_>)
Thanks!

uh...internet speeds are pretty fast generally, but i mean what kind of stuff do you want to dl? you won't be able to carry out anything on a usb, bc usually the hard drive or whatever (i'm not too computer savvy...) is locked. but if you want to stream movies, music, or play any kind of games it's fine.
in terms of who's allowed in, it completely depends on the place. some places requires 16+, 18+ and with proper ID. some places just require a cash deposit. there's no harm in trying, worst thing that can happen is you get turned away.

I'm hoping to download League of Legends.. it's servers are (I think) in California but there's P2P also (kinda like Blizzard's downloader).
And yeah, I guess I'll just go check it out tomorrow and hope for the best

I remember that article about China and their weird gaming laws for kids, though no specifics come to mind :[ Just give it a shot I guess, good luck!

in taiwan some pc bangs are 18+ because they allow smoking and stuff inside, and generally has a negative connotation, thought it would maybe be relevant to china? o.O

You need an ID. Don't forget it or you will have to go back home. If you plan to play BW, you won't be able to play on b.net, and in most cafes you can't install stuffs by yourself, so don't expect to play on iccup either. But most internet cafes have the VS Client installed. It is a kind of chinese garena. You have to register first. Ask someone of your family who can read chinese to help you.
For League of Legend : Since you are posting here I assume you have internet at home, so you'd better download it at your cousin's home and install it on your current computer.
The speed really depends on the cafes. Don't expect too much. Also, a lot of cafes do not let you plug usb keys/drives.

zui jin de wang ba? ooh quai ooh quai. shi shi shi shi.
haha that entails like 50 percent of the chinese i know. the others are: gei wo shui. Wo shi weiguoren. Hao.
and a bit more :D Anyways, internet is pretty fast from my experiences. I don't get how the whole ID check thing works, from what I remember during my time there about 3 years ago, kids could go but they had to bring ID and they could only stay for a certain amount of time.

Haha thanks for all the replies :D
I might try to go, but judging by the responses and what my grandparents think I'll probably get turned away
And I would install League of Legends on this computer.. but it's got like 300mb free space left and only 500mb of RAM :/.
