Mediafire is unblocked!

Mediafire is a file sharing site, much like Rapidshare, except that it is a lot better. The speeds are a lot quicker because MF supports download accelerators. It also allows parallel downloads, resuming, and has no download limit, captcha, or wait time. (Be advised that I may be wrong about some of this stuff because I haven't been able to use it for so long, for obvious reasons )

I am so pumped about this and personally I would rather have MF unblocked than Facebook or Youtube.

I used MediaFire about a week ago here in China. How long has it been unblocked? Like sLiniss, I would also like a source.

Also, I would personally prefer YouTube being unblocked, but i find it likely China's vendetta with Google will keep it down.

Yeah mediafire is great for all the reasons you have listed, I love mediafire. Why was it blocked in the first place?
Because when you left, Brood War was all spotlights and titans. Now, with the death of the big leagues, Brood War has moved to the basements and carparks. Now, Brood War is unlicensed brawls, lost teeth, and bloody fights for fistfulls of money - SirJolt

O.o I'm going to China in a week.. Why's it that you guys like MF so much?

And as for YouTube and Facebook, what do you guys think is the best way to get access? I could set up a VPN on one of my old Toshiba laptops.. But do you guys know any alternatives?

Edit: lol fail, totally skipped the OP's second post.. But I still don't really use MF that much :/ do you guys use it frequently?

an alternative would be freegate 6.80. just double click, and it opens IE and it's good to go. if you want to use it with firefox, you have to configure some proxy settings
if you want i could send you it.
EDIT: or if you're not in china yet you can just google it

Awesome!

I rarely use Mediafire though. I just don't have a lot of links that redirect me there, so I use Rapidshare.

I had a premium account though, so it didn't matter. ;P

You can use proxies until the Chinese gov't hunts you down and takes you away!

One of my friend's father's coworker got picked up by the gov't one day and no one knows where he is now. He was some kinda activist. Scary stuff like this actually happens o.O *shudder*

yes its confirmed that media fire is working. also, youre much more likely to be hunted down by the u.s regime for downloading songs, and movies than you are by the Chinese govt. the only ones who get hunted down in China are those plotting to overthrow the govt. if youre downloading music, videos, and pirated software, nobody bothers you. the activists that the above shill mentioned are usually agents on the payroll of the u.s regime, so i dont think "activist" is the proper description, unless activist is just another word for cia agent. in that case, theres alot of them in China, but i dont know how many of them actually get picked up, but i dont think China is any worse than the fbi when it comes to picking up "activists". you have the u.s, british, and israeli cops beating activists in the open public, yet we're supposed to believe that China is worse? ive been in China for 10yrs, and never once seen Chinese cops beating any activists, but you can see videos all over the place of american, british, canadian, and israeli cops beating people in broad daylight.

Google is an easy way to gain access to knowledge. For example that their great leaders aren't so great after all. So they're censoring the internet.

i think google complied with chinas regulations, but then at some point they thought it over and decided they dont want to support it and now they are blocked.

And the central government would never harass citizens from important countries.
I think they are currently quite content with increasing their economy while the USA is playing the class clown diplomatically.

I don't think you're likely to gain anymore knowledge from google than you are from baidu, or yandex. I mean google is a great place to gain knowledge about dirt on Chinese leaders, but if you wanted dirt on western leaders, then you are unlikely to find the same wealth of information, nor would you be able to find similar dirt of western korporations and the way they are cheating you.

Let me just use a few simple examples. If you are curious as to who is winning the civil war in Yemen, and do a search for that on google, I doubt you will find anything useful. Or let say you are having trouble tech problems. A search on google is most likely going to flood you with irrelevant results. Google is just as misleading as the main stream media. If you wanted to know the REAL reason why ambasador christopher stevens was killed, do u think google will tell you? unlikely. even if u wanted real dirt on China, you're unlikely to find it. The best you can find is fake dirt. When Jiang Qing died, it was ruled a suicide, and the west went with that story. Will Google tell you what REALLY happened to JQ? unlikely. Do some westerners know what happened? Yes. Will Google try to get that information to you. No.

Just like Baidu, google will only allow you to see what the oligarks want you to see. Think google is going to tell you what really happened with the jfk assasination? Doubt it. Think you are going to find any relevant information on google about the crimes comited by the British queen? Doubt it. What it comes down to is, google also censors, especially when it comes to dirt on western oligarks, but even in other areas. For example if nato troops killed a bunch of innocent people, google is more likely to cover that up than to expose it. The west, just like China will hide information from you to protect themselves from public backlash.

Now I know alot of shils cite the primary reason China is blocking google is because google portrays the leadership negatively, but ask yourself this, isn't yahoo also linking to the same sites that are also critical of China, why not block yahoo too? Most of the time, yahoo, and google links to the same sites if the same exact search term is entered. Then you have websites that are entirely dedicated to criticising China like China smack, yet they aren't blocked. Why is that? That, I am sure, the shils dont have an answer to.

As for why China has a problem with google, it probably has more to do with spying. Obviously, there is the disinformation factor. Google links to a lot of sites that are overtly inperialist, and promotes hate. Google also has a long history of working with the us gov, and probably uses alot of google statistics to stir up problems in China. It's also probably why google play, and google services are blocked from all Chinese cell phones, because all of that is very useful to monitor Chinese peoples activities.

With that said, blocking google also gives baidu an advantage.
