I just think that I will say goodbye to my real true love, Brood War. It's been a really amazing run. I had always known Brood War from when my friendly neighborhood Korean introduced me to it as a young 4th grader. But I didn't truely get to know Brood War until I pulled it off my own shelf and got deep into it and into the world of progaming, TL, iccup, etc. years later in high school.
It was love at first sight. I played the campaign. I played on b.net. I went on TL and lurked. I watched proleague. I played iccup. And I SUCKED. ASS. It was a rocky on and off relationship. I balanced school with my desire to get out of D-. In the end, I got a little bit of both. And to be honest, when Blizzard announced Starcraft 2, I died a little inside. The community split between those who would embrace SC2 and cast away BW and those who would never give up on their lover.
With all my real life friends so enthused about SC2 compared to how hard I had tried to motivate them to love Brood War, I realized that this was my calling. This is not an eternal goodbye, Brood War. I will be back. But I propose that we take a break for now.
But, know this.... Brood War, I will never forget you. I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.
