Thanks TL.net for giving me ideas on how to use money. There were alot of threads about investing and it really got me inspired about getting involved with the stock market. Started at TL.net, expanded into other sites, and followed CNBC each morning to understand general ideas. (take the commentators advice with a grain of salt)
My plan was to buy 5-6+ months ahead of a game launch announcement. As the market gets excited for a $100 million dollar product release, I flip the stock for quick momentum cash. Though I got real lucky with buying right at the bottom.
While its small penny profits, its still nice to know my video card and sc2 copy is paid for. Btw, that 1k capital is going back into play when ATVI hits $10 range if it misses its Q3 earnings results. Then I wait for Diablo 3 momentum.

Never understood this shit. I guess It wouldn't take much but it just doesn't take my interest enough for me to invest time in it. All the power to you though for being able to take advantage of this tool and use it to buy sc2 etc xD

I also don't understand how other investors don't realize this kind of thing and jump on it harder, faster, and cheaper than single amateur investors.

I think it's because other investors hit bigger and much more profitable venues. Not to dismiss from the winnings posted here, though.
Plus, buying/selling stock on game hype is alot riskier than other things, I'd imagine.

Well actually, infact they do. My volume is very small and pitiful compared to the heavy amounts thrown in by institutional investors. There are alot of analysts following ATVI as well as ERTS (Electronic Arts) in wallstreet. The only reason why the stock went up is due to mass market rally this past 2 weeks. Also, due to the imminent release of SC2 and upcoming holiday season. I would be greedy and hold, but I made mistakes holding onto stocks for too long. I am happy with 20% return and will pull the trigger.

I bought at 10.94 and im still holding. just thought id throw that out there. im waiting for hopefully 14 or so. ill post back in a few months and tell you how it went xD

If you look at the stock more carefully, it's already trading at 51 P/E multiples (the market average is 12-14), so the profit is already priced in long time ago. I don't think there's room for much higher prices especially considering this is a matured dividend paying company.

Bingo! You sir are a smart man. Jiyan, I would sell now due to the fact that the market will probably take a head dive before we approach the holiday season. The recent rally really helped ATVI but, I do not believe that they will sustain any more growth. The analyst estimates probably baked the profits from SC2 into their model. However, analysts get shit wrong all the time. Also, remember that inorder for ATVI to really move in price, they need to announce something really big (WOW or D3). I do not forsee that until after the new year.

you forgot that WoW Cataclysm is in closed beta
there's also Call of Duty Black Ops
