Okay so I stumbled across this article just today from reading reddit.com and when I first watched this video I was like "Wow that's totally me" personally I think Firefox 4 will be the best thing that could possibly hit the internet to date. Just read this article and check out the video. It just seems like browsing the web will become more "organized" and I like how they are approaching it.

Read More: http://techcrunch.com/2010/07/23/firefox-tab-candy/
Watch the video:

If you’re anything like me, at any given time you have a dozen to two dozen tabs open across multiple web browser windows. It’s great to have all these webpages open and ready to click on at any second, but it’s a nightmare to try and remember where each is with so many open. I shudder to think how much time I waste on this each day. Luckily, Mozilla is working on a solution.

A new feature called Tab Candy is in the works. It’s still early in testing mode, as Mozilla’s Aza Raskin points out on his blog today, but it looks to be exactly what I need.

Be sure to watch the video below for a full overview — from the looks of it, it seems as if Tab Candy is sort of like Apple’s Expose feature mixed with their Spaces feature, both of which are baked into OS X. For those who don’t use a Mac, basically these features allow you to zoom out and get a bird’s-eye-view of all your windows (or tabs, in this case) that are open — and you can also arrange open windows (or again, tabs, in this case) in certain spaces so they’re clumped together. This allows you to more easily find what you’re looking for with so many tabs open.

For example, when tabs are organized into a group, you can select that group and see only those tabs you put in there. The other tabs you have open (in another group) are still open, you just won’t see them when you’re focused on this particular group. And you can change the sizes of these groups in the bird’s-eye-view mode to highlight certain ones. “Make the group with your calendar and email bigger so that you can see what’s new just by zooming out to Tab Candy. Hide the group with distractions in a corner,” Raskin writes.

The best part is that you can actually test out Tab Candy right now. If you click on this link, you’ll download a special “super-early” build of Firefox (Firefox 4 beta, to be specific) with Tab Candy. Again, it’s early so there are bugs and performance issues, but this is a very, very good idea.

That would be extremely useful for me. Right now I find myself having to open up different web browser windows just to keep all my tabs separate.

Wow, looks awesome. I don't actually use tabs myself, I prefer to make new windows because I find tabs uwieldy. I only ever have around 3-5 windows open at any one time tough.

This is a pretty neat feature, I wasn't sold until they mentioned the "To-do group", that's very useful imo.

For now, "tabmix plus" is pretty good, it allows multi-row tab display and you can define a fixed size for your tabs.

No offense but I tabbed browse ALOT, and I've never had any problem in chrome with tab confusion...

I usually only have 5 or less open, which is easy to keep track of, and if I ever open 10-20 it is almost always for pictures which in chrome are then easy to then go through one at a time (chrome scales tabs instead of scrolling them). So I really don't think I would ever use this...it seems like alot of trouble to go through organizing and naming tab groups for 30 tabs that will all likely be closed in 25-30 seconds.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

Er just sounds complicated... I like having all my tabs accessible without extra clicking.

You can set how many tabs you want visible without scrolling anything in about:config, that's all I need (yep I got 30 tabs up no problem).

this really can substitute for the bookmarks function in almost all browsers..

seriously with good organization and customization, it replaces the bookmarks function.. but by doing so, it eat up lots of bandwidth.. imagine openning up 30tabs each time u open up ur browser..

and what happened when it crash? openning up too many tabs may cause it to crash as well, that's another factor..

I love it. I thought the idea was fantastic reading it, but i only stopped to watch the video now. I like how he thinks and plans his features. Its so practical and logical hehe. Sometimes with stuff like this, there's a disconnect between what I want to do and what the program offers.

it's obviously not for people who only have 5 open. i use chrome and i like it a lot but my tabs number in the 20's and above all the time and they get absolutely shit-faced messy, i cant find anything.

ideally i hope chrome has something to help but ill consider going back to ffox if they dont

Would be nice, nothing truly revolutionary though. I have more than enough screen space on my eyefinity setup (5760x1200 desktop res FTW:D) and my 40" HDTV, and I usually group similar tabs into different windows anyway so I guess FF4 would just be a visual/spatial extension of what I already do.

If you have more than 10 tabs open at any time, you're doing it wrong. I really can't see myself needing this. But if I did, this is not the solution I'd go for, too much mousework.

Open Tab in new browser ??? Problem solved.
Use your bookmarks/notices.

I dont really get this 100 tabs + for people who are too lazy/unable to organize their browsing environment. It's not like you have to search for cooking recipes while checking the stock index....

lol, I've never had that many tabs open. Also yeah, if you want to organize your tabs, just open a new browser, move related tabs over there. Just as simple

windows inside tabs inside windows
T_T this frankly to me is a waste how much space do you really save doing this vs just opening a new window and dragging those tabs into that new window.

This. ...-ish. I actually use and prefer a thing called Tab kit:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5447/

Imho, Tab candy only seems like a good idea for organizing tabs for those with a shit ton of tabs open...until you realize it makes tab browsing only a little less unwieldy compared to other add-ons we already have. Still too much clicking and switching between windows. From my experience, vertical tab browsing with tab grouping pretty much solves all the problems of sorting through the kekeke-zerg-rush number of tabs I have open XD

Don't worry about it =D

why would you need to click, there is a shortcut key (crtl + space) than you can use the arrows to get to whatever sections you want. I love it, i have all my starcraft stuff in one section, all my mail in another, facebook shit the bottom and all i'm waiting for is the private browsing so i can get my porn section.

Having 100 firefox tabs open at once? I don't think my computer would even be able to do that, isn't firefox somewhat of a memory hog?

And to be honest I'm too much of a Chrome fan to switch to Firefox, I just love the way it runs and many other features I won't bother listing here, because I'm not trying to persuade anyone to switch I can imagine that if this becomes really popular Google will create something to compete with it relatively quickly.

The tabs I have right now:

Programming:30 tabs: various code examples, reference manuals addons varying between C++, PhP Mysql, Java and ruby.

youtube: 25 tabs, various music videos, AMV's and gaming related like SCII and WOW.

Images: 30 tabs, various images for gods knows for what reasons ranging from Animé to general art.

News sites, roughly 50 tabs.

I think I need this addon.

Ah, can't wait for this. I've tried a number of add-ons to save tabs for later, but it just doesn't help as I either forget about the tabs I saved later or just forget to use the add-on. Hopefully this'll work for me.
