Around mid-July, we will be having a "progaming" team for StarCraft. The players in the team will represent our country for the future tournaments to come. The players that have joined have decent experience in playing RTS games and have acquired championships, gold and titles themselves in the past.
At first I thought of contacting the captains of each international team (Liquid, MYM, LLL, etc.) just to ask them any tips on how they run their teams. But then it occurred to me that it would be like asking for the "secret formula" of their respective teams, and that it would be awkward and possibly disrespectful.
Since people have to work and study here in our country in order to survive, we can't have a Korean-like schedule. I am thinking that having the team practice together a whole day once per week is enough to maintain our gaming performance.
Any other tips?

once a week? sounds pretty casual to me
if you wanna build a real team, you gotta be practicing together many times a week and i mean if you can meet up in person all the better

-_-. i was excited to answer some "running" questions, then i found out it was about SC teams XD.

Once a day is the "minimum" I can think of that seems to be possible. But I am inclining towards 3 days and 2 nights per week. Yes, we have a practice house prepared for this.

do you do try-outs? or for invitation only? (not related tho, but kind of interested) just to clarify, sc or sc2?

We will be holding try-outs soon. PM me for details about that.
This is for SC2.

Not everyone has a lot of free time as some do. Even if his team will suck ass, lose all matches, etc due to their lack of time, they are still a real team.
I find myself willing to play a lot of BW, but I've got the university and the research group I'm in that take all my time, I've left about 2h per week to play BW

If your trying to make a "Progaming" team, minimum imo would be like 3 times a week. And every player should be independantly active atleast 5 days a week.

5 days a week 10-12 hours is prob a good schedule to follow.

Make your practices meaningful and efficient. Quality of practice over quantity. You will want to figure out what practice methods work best for your teammates. You should probably ask your team what they think and decide how they should practice before you dedicate a lot of time.
