After much deliberation, I've decided that once the SC2 wave comes, I'm going to give a shot at comemntating some games. I'll most likely do team games mostly, seeings I'm terrible at 1v1's. Although that said, I'm not going to just do "my own games" - I'd love to see other peoples games if they contain anything exciting, and I'd be happy to commentate. I'll also do some very low level analysis if possible.

I love 4v4's and 3v3's so that will probably be the majority of the content I put up on my channel. Speaking of which - I've been playing around with the background images and whatnot on my channel, take a peek if you have a spare moment, let me know if you like the way it's set-out currently.

Nothing just yet, I was hoping that the recent "July 1 Beta is back!" rumours were true, I was going to jump on, play some 4's and then get them uploaded - but alas no

So if the beta comes back up during this week... I'll try, but I've got a busy week with work. We'll see how we go. If anyone has any advice please feel free

I'll also note I'm not looking to be doing "HIGH LEVEL HARDCORE BROS MATHS ANALYSIS" kind of commentating - just some fun laid-back watching of some mid-level dudes in team games.

Best of luck mate. Potential Advice:

Practice to yourself just while watching replays - ie. be talking to yourself when watching games. Get in the habit of being able to just talk continuously as casters do. Practice Practice.

The thing to watch out for is re-using the same phrase for a certain situation/concept; it may be hard to keep thinking of new ways to put things when you are constantly talking, but its just something to watch out for.

Also, be hyper enthusiastic!

Im planning on trying my hand at some 2v2 commentating during/after phase 2 see how it pan out. It seem like every second nerd in the world wants to commentate SC2 ATM. So it will be interesting to see who survives/thrives in the coming months.

Yeah that's a very good point, I'm going to watch a bunch of replays and give it a bit of practice - although that said I often watch replays/other folks vod's with a couple of friends in my vent server, and we talk a LOT about the game being played, so hopefully it will be a simple extension from that.

here's what i've learned, even though it's not always true:

if you're terrible at 1v1s, you're terrible at 2v2, etc. as well, it's just harder to recognize because getting into diamond is as simple as choosing a character name.

practice your 1v1 if you want to commentate. but that's just my opinion. you could certainly be a good commentator w/o being good at 1v1. it's just not likely.

I agree more to your second comment - it is certainly possible to be a great tactician, but mechanically a failure. I think that's where I fall currently, as I've only been properly playing sc for about 2 years now on and off.

Not to mention - like I said I'm not an in-depth analyst like Day9 or something - from a real simple point of view commentary is just saying what's going on in a game/sport so that the 'viewer' or 'listener' spends less time thinking about what is going on, and just enjoys watching.

But I certainly do understand what you're saying - but hopefully my gold-level skill in game won't effect my commentary of a game. I may not be able to provide the "in depth look at a build order, and the effects of using an imaginary player" or be able to "analyse what building triggers" a player in a replay is using - but I believe I'll certainly be able to give a fun and interesting commentary of a game or two.

I think I'm going to leave the background and settings on the channel as it is - we'll see how we go later. Hopefully I'll have something up by the end of the week
