Hey guys!
Its summer time and its time to parrrrty! Well, more to chill but anyhow. I was thinking of going to San Francisco and LA for about 10 days, and I have never been there before, so what attractions and touristy stuff are there? I dont mind paying some cash, and non touristy stuff is fine too/.

Never been to LA. In San Francisco, you should definitely check out the touristy places, since they are so worth it.
Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Bridge (at least cross it), take an old street trolley in the city somewhere, the massive Chinatown are all good bets.

Seconding what Grim Reaver said.
San Francisco's tourist attractions are actually worth it. Hell, I live there and I still go to those places.
Adding in go to a Giants game (baseball stadium with a bay view??? Sweet.), Golden Gate Park (HUUUUUUUGE!), along with visiting all the other great cities in the bay. In LA, you drive an hour and you're still in LA. In the bay, you drive 20 minutes in any direction and you're in another ballin' ass city.
Just head in any direction (except south) on a warm summer day and find a place near the water. Head south on a cooler day. San Jose has its merits, but gets hot as HELL on a warm summer day.
I'll leave LA for the smogheads

it is! like, RIGHT next to it.
also, haight-ashbury (might fit with GG park...oh shit, GG park, now you GOTTA go!!! lol!)
what else...SFMOMA, the ocean, aquarium @ the wharf (you can go to the wharf without the aquarium, so i thought i'd add this anyway...), the presidio, the Metreon, the San Francisco Zoo...
Oh, and GG park again. Because it's over 1000 acres in size... + Show Spoiler [large image] + ^ click the image for a larger one.
Yes, 20% larger than Central Park in New York! (I just love that place. Japanese Tea Gardens, Conservatory of Flowers, lakes, Hippie Hill [KIND BUDZ KIND BUDZ], botanical gardens, wind mills.....yes wind mills.) Oh, and yes, that is the ocean on the right side. There's even a fucking BISON paddock in the park. Just read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Gate_Park before I wall of text about it. Oh, and it's free.
