[I am using the standard 20in monitor that comes with Dell desktops, I think the model # is ST2010]
As of 3-4 days ago, I began hearing a small buzzing noise coming from my LCD monitor (in the top left corner). It became unusually hot to the touch, though the noise stopped after setting the brightness on my monitor to 100%. After about a day, the noise came back, and I noticed a bit of dimming coming from the top left corner. The buzzing noise sporadically disappears and reappears, though the darkened spot is getting larger and larger.
Could this be a problem with the LCD inverter? If so, is there an easy fix for this or should I get a new monitor. Help me!
EDIT: Recently, I've been getting random flashes (black) from time to time... I think this is it for my monitor...

I can't imagine maxing the brightness would help the heat problem. I've never seen this problem before so I can't help you

This happened to my old 24'. Had to get a new one.

Creep tumors are expanding, use scan and kill them off.
+ Show Spoiler +On more serious note, looks like something inside is broken. Probably time to get a new, don't really see a way to fix it by 'opening' the monitor.

That pretty much sounds like your monitor is reaching its demise. Put it out of its misery and get a new one.
edit: Unless you got a warranty or something, to get it fix would cost you a decent sum. Might as well grab a new one.
|
Do you still have warranty on it? Otherwise I'd say buy a new one, monitors aren't that expensive anyway.
|
Yea if you still have a warranty use it (normally warranty for monitors last pretty long) Call dell and make sure you have your serial number on hand and stuff. If not just buy a new one.

I believe that is from a blown connection inside, if it's under warranty it can be fixed by the company, otherwise fixing it manually is usually in the price range of a new product.
Even the warranty return would just get you a new product, they would scrap the old one for parts.

Alright, thanks guys. I will look for a new monitor... newegg, here I come
EDIT: Lol the noise is beginning to sound like comsat xD

I would suggest using that monitor in the lowest amount possible. Let us know what you get, if you're unsure of what is good in some of those specs, and what is overkill in some areas, PM me.
