I've been thinking about looking into purchasing some of the tight under armor gear. I've seen a few friends wearing it at soccer and hockey so I figured I'd throw it out to TL and see if anyone has any positive or negative personal experience using it and what benefits using it could bring me.
Thanks kcaz

Thanks for all the feedback guys, really helped me make a decision. I ended up picking up one of the fitted t-shirts and really like how it looked and felt. So now one more question, I play ball hockey and indoor/outdoor soccer, what other UA products would you recommend me trying next?

My friend swears by it when he goes to the gym, and he's a gym-rat if that's worth any thing
Never seen it or heard about it before going to the US, but there is seems like a decent brand.
Don't use it if you're scrawny. Looks bad.

Its amazing it will keep you warm as hell on cold days and during the summer time it helps wick the sweat away helping to keep you cool. If youre also worried about looks just toss on a T-Shirt.
i play tennis with UA and it really does help wick sweat away as long as the air around you isn't 100% humidity. in the right weather, it works really well. the prices are decent too, and you can pick it up for real cheap and department stores during sales.
get it but go off brand, the under armour brand is outrageously priced
id recommend it for hockey but not soccer in the summer, its mostly used for cold weather imo
My brother's an athletic type and he loves that shit. He wears it around the house sometimes. If you can afford it, then go for it.
It will definitely help you in those sweaty late-game moments.
I use it when im playing soccer, I like it, comfortable and it helps.
What does it do? Just absorb the sweat? Doesn't it make you sweat more because you are wearing more clothes?
I play golf, and I used the one for cold weather.
It definitely works. I've played round of golf in 40~50 degrees with underarmour and a T-Shirt on. I've never felt cold during the round. Sometimes, I even started to feel too warm during some rounds.
I'm not too sure about the ones you wear in summer, as I've wore it only once. But damn, it works alright.

I have UA longsleeves for long distance running in the winter. IT'S SO WORTH IT!! Seriously I think I would die without those long sleeves.
No benefit imo. Makes you look beefy if you have that kind of build, accentuates the biceps. I wear them under the jersey for baseball but honestly I don't find them comfortable or more helpful then a regular long sleeve shirt. Maybe if your distance running but they are expensive as fuck too. I use it but I would say resist the peer pressure
UA is nice, but i don't wear it. UA looks really nice if you're muscular. i'm a stocky build so it would look good on me, but i just love rocking a normal white tank top.

the cold gear is good if you play sports outside in the winter
I love underarmor, it's great for running specially during the winter.
they're kind of overrated
not miracle gear, so think twice about what you buy
overpriced, makes you look like a bit of a wanker. The cold gear is good, but get off brand.

I use cold gear for skiing as a bottom layer, it keeps you sooooo warm. I have never worried about upper body temperature when skiing since I got it.
The way it works is that if it's touching the air, it keeps you pretty cool, almost on the border of cold. If there's anything over it though (the under armor is not exposed to the air), you get very warm.

underarmour is the best clothing

In my opinion it mostly just makes you feel cool and more athletic rather then actually giving you a noticeable benefit. If you have cash to throw around and you want it more for looks then I say go for it, but if you expect it to increase your performance I would say nay.

its really good for fat ppl btw, cuz it stops ur legs from rubbing together when running or w/e

I use 2XU which is similar to skins. I have a couple of pairs of the gradient compression pants. http://www.2xu.com/compression/
They are amazing for doing exercises like squats/deadlifts/running & cycling. The ones I have get rid of lactic acid a lot faster so your recovery time is quicker, they also allow you to go longer before fatigue kicks in. The other thing they do is stop your muscles from too much vibration and jiggling avoiding injuries with fast movement.
They are kind of tight, but they do not restrict blood flow at all, if anything they improve it, they also dissipate heat and sweat faster keeping you cool, but it doesn't seem to have the opposite effect if it's cold. You actually get colder.

I thoroughly enjoy posts like these by people who only want to bash on something because it's considered mainstream. I was skeptical at first, too, but once I used it (wrestling, volleyball, football) I became sold on it. It really whisks away the sweat and keeps you cool (or warm, as is the case when running in winter).
Summary: Don't judge people on what they wear when you haven't even tried it yourself. He wasn't asking whether he would look cool, he was asking whether it worked. And as mentioned earlier as well, there's more than just UA on the market. Try finding the best price for what you need.

It spreads out the sweat more which makes it evaporate quicker, helps with circulation and keeping yoru body cooler actually (even if it seems like the opposite)
I like this stuff my only issue is a lot of the times its overpriced but it IS good, I would recommend having like 2-3 shirts and just washing them often, but don't go overboard.

Any compression shorts do this lol, underarmor tends to be more expensive than other brands,b ut they all do work very well.
honestly underarmor is more motivation then actual SWEATABSORBINGTECHNOLOGY. seriously when you put that shit on you can run 10x faster because you feel tight as hell (get it?).
After reding this thread I'm thinking of getting some compression shorts :O
Its up too you, basically everyone has it around my area.
Brand name sells lol.
I had to get one for Crew cause everyone had one lol
I just got a mizuno running top and its nice :D

So it`s just work out clothing that is real snug? I`m having trouble understanding this. Does it protect you somehow? I feel stupid right now.
if you plan on playing sports outdoors when the weather is not so great then go ahead.
if you're gonna be indoors playing sports/lifting weights/cardio, then don't bother buying one
Their running shoes are ass.
But their Cross Training shoes the Mercenaries/Proto speed.are really good.
It's absolutely nesecary. I can't imagine anyone that's played football/soccer/CC in cold weather, and wouldn't recommend it after trying it.
its good but other brands do the same thing at half the price
They're for compression, which can "enhance performance."

I have some adidas atheletic top for running, it's definitely better than plain cotton t-shirts. It feels much more comfortable/less clingy than drenched cotton, and that moisture is being pulled outward from your skin faster. But t-shirts cost like $2 each, while a nice athletic shirt costs like $30?

you should ask this question to veterans coming back from iraq.
Been using it for years during winter, usually on those few odd days where it dips below -30C, and it's absolutely kickass. Nothing quite like walking outside and seeing everyone swearing while you're just :smug: ing it up.
-30 C you Canadians are fucking nuts. I dont care what im wearing -30 C is far to cold to be outside
I'm a soccer player. Never used it. I don't like making myself dependent on gear.
