While I was wandering aimlessly on the internet because sc2 is down, I found this awesome musician called K'Naan. I ran into his video first because of the 2010 world cup anthem, "Waving Flag".

Heres the original version and some other songs of his:

I don't know why but this guy's music stands out to me. Perhaps because it seems to have more meaning than standard hiphop/rap these days. Anyways, enjoy.

Good Canadian music is the shit. If you like K'Naan, you might also like k-os. Too many people relate Canadian artists with Bieber and Drake nowadays. Even though Drake is ok, he overshadows too many other artists. You picked like two of my favourite K'naan songs as well. Good job =]

K'naan is absolutely amazing. So glad his World Cup gig is getting him the publicity he deserves, even if it means I'll have to pay more to see him next time.

I was going to post this lol. Distant relatives is such a sick CD. I think now I may look into more of K'naans work. (I wonder if he will be with Nas/Damien on their tour, I'm going to their show tomorrow in houston :D)

At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics K'Naan had at least 1 concert. Since then I've heard K'Naan on the radio at my gym at least once per workout, so he has quite a bit of exposure out west.

I like him as well, but I'm a bit worried because his second album wasn't as good as his first (imho overproduced and more sappy pop tunes that he really isn't good at) and now he mangled Wavin' Flag (even further) for the WC. Let's hope he sticks to his roots.

I remember when I first heard his music like a year or a year and a half ago and I was just completely in awe. What is amazing is he truly takes the lyrics to a whole new level in terms of hip hop. When you hear most hip hop and rappers its all just shitty lyrics with some shitty beat and somehow it gets popular. His lyrics are so deep and shows the struggles of his homeland and what he's gone through, absolutely amazing.

I was a little sad that he changed the lyrics up so much, but I guess it had to be done to convey a more positive light.
