+ Show Spoiler + For my 1000th post I want to talk about the unique position Starcraft is at right now.
Before February 2010, we were a small foreign community that followed a large Korean scene. We knew how special BW was. Yet every time we explained it to family, friends, or strangers, they would just stare back in disappointment. Those who went so far as to direct their career towards E-sports, probably got a ton of shit for it from their friends or family. Except Day9's mom of course, who is awesome.
When SC2 beta came out, activity fucking boomed around TL.net, and in the SC community overall. Remember when 20,000 people tuned in for TSL2 and we were all like WTF? Throughout the beta, we would regularly see 10k+ viewers watching weekly events, and more than 20k at the HDH. There was literally like 6 tournaments going on EVERY WEEK! And most of them had prize pools! And this game isn't even out yet!!!
I kid you not though. What we have experienced through the beta in terms of community and E-sports development, is NOTHING compared to what will come for the next 4 years. There are tons of opportunities for everyone here, and TL.net is at a premium position to take advantage of this. For all you that have a little entrepreneur in you, unleash it onto this booming scene. Day9, HDstarcraft, and Husky are great examples of young proactive nerds.
On Saturday, 19th of July 2008, I registered this account on TL.net. Before July-08, i had probably been lurking around for a year and a half. For the lurkers reading this, don't waste your time. Be proactive, be part of this community. Register now and start contributing.
I am really really excited for the year ahead of us. I am convinced everything will work out with Bnet2.0, although Blizzard still needs us there to pressure them about it. There is no doubt though, that we are in store for something very special.

Haha happy 1000th FortuneSyn! You may not remember me, but you taught me a little ZvZ on ICCup sometime last year.
Even though I'm not very interested in SCII, it's wondrous to watch how the popularity has exploded compared to BW.

Man, TL in 2006 was quality with a couple of trolls. Now, it's a swamp of 12 year old kids AND trolls. Then again, the sheer ignorance of some the new members made me stop lurking.

Hey flamewheel! I actually think i remember those times heh.
Yeah the amount of new people swarming around the starcraft 2 forum amazes me. No doubt has the trolling and terrible threads increased, although I believe the mods are doing a good job about it.
Another great example is the idra vs white-ra finals video on husky's youtube. That thing has 326k views!!!!! Could we maybe be seeing live events with 100k viewers? It's not that far-fetched actually.

It is amazing how much the community blew up this February. I'd been lurking since early 2008 before signing up last year, and my shitty drone avatar used to be the exception, not the norm in most threads. I think the entire thing is very exciting. This community, so accustomed to staying up until 4 in the morning for a grainy glimpse of a different world, now has the entire galaxy in their backyard.
These next 5 years will be interesting
