So Flash just ruthlessly raped Jaedong, especially in set 3 where there was no way Jaedong could've made a come back after Flash held off the hydra bust. In a typical display of Flash's efficient, perfect game, he crushed Jaedong as soon as he could before Jaedong could make any kind of recovery.

Which is where I become slightly unsatisfied, because while I appreciate Flash's nearly flawless play and ruthless mechanical efficiency, I really miss the Boxer-esque showmanship. Even though I knew Flash would close the game as fast as possible, I was hoping for Flash to split the map and do something crazy fun like Nukes or Battlecruisers. Especially in the map Triathalon, I was hoping to see a 2 or 3 port wraith build in Flash's hands, which no doubt would be simply amazing.

Flash put a spectacular, dominating performance against Jaedong tonight, and I really do enjoy his perfect play. I only wish he'd be more like Boxer or even Hiya and be more of a showman.

If jaedong had played near flashes level, we would have seen some amazing "showmanship"...he didn't, sucks, but there will be more.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

lol you really expected a kid who had just lost up 2-0 to 2-3 a week earlier, on this map no less, to not secure an easy win?

even if there was a 0.00001% chance JD comes back, Flash wasn't taking that chance

I could be wrong but when Boxer bunker rushed Yellow 3x I don't remember seeing any map splitting, nukes, or battlecruisers.

i think its funner to see mnm than BCs, and as for nukes, what with overlords going everywhere and JD being the #1 zerg, i don't think it would have been worth it to keep JD alive, and try to nuke him

also can't really do crazy boxer-esque things imo, since the game has evolved and you gotta stay on track or lose the game

If Jaedong would've backed off after the barracks went down and double expanded then, he could've had an absurd amount of hydralisks when Flash's push came out. Why he didn't do that I will never know...

Yeah really. Especially against Jaedong who is a pretty damn good player. If Jaedong somehow manages to come back and win from Flash splitting the map for fun or w/e he is definitely capable of winning the next two.

Doing something like this is just dumb. Especially considering the amount of money they were playing for.

yeah, not really agreeing with the OP on this one

these guys are not playing to entertain you - they're playing to win. it just so happens that their games are so entertaining because of their immense power

Boxer triple bunker rushed Yellow to end a finals and pissed a lot of people off in the process. It had people calling terran and bunker rush imba for a while.

showmanship, or the term as you're using it, stems from extraordinary reactions to inopportune situations. creativity & micro, all that. if one player isn't put in any inopportune situations because he just crushes the other guy, how can you blame the guy doing the crushing?

Should blame Jaedong really.

But then again, you can't blame him cuz playing well against Flash is pretty damn hard.

:\ actually that would be the point of watching something, and Boxer's philosophy was centered around entertaining people, which led him to be incredibly popular and helped BW immensely in its infant stages as an E-Sport.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching games standard games and incredible play like Flash's, I just think that some showmanship would be even better and would bring in a much wider audience for BW.

Exactly, even if he was 2-0 up against YellOw on the 2nd day of February, had beaten Silver to make the finals and YellOw announced he didn't expect any cheese FlaSh would have played standard.

Also, FlaSh does do this sort of stuff sometimes --> Manner CCs, doom drops, mass firebats, etc.

I'm pretty sure that Flash's push was a response to how aggressive Jaedong had been + how many Hydras he lost, so without Jaedong's predictable "attack now!" response, such an early push might not have even occurred.

i disagree that boxer's philosophy was about entertaining people

he just looked for more creative answers to the common questions asked at that time

which obviously is innovative and a joy to watch, but more a byproduct and not the goal of his thinking

even his famous 'nuke rush' was just vs some random protoss noob, and not some sic final
too easy

well he had an inopportune situation of having a really good advantage for him to do whatever he pleased. The crushing isn't by any means bad or boring, but it would've just simply been more fun if he had done something to please the crowd.

Boxer was so much better than anyone he played against that he could afford to do this. Flash, on the other hand, would get eaten alive the moment he started to falter, even by "mediocre" players. He can't do it or else he might lose. That's why.

Then some BarvickHero would write a blog about Flash being bad mannered because he used valks to kill all overlords instead of finishing already finished game.

Well, you call it showmanship, jaedong fans - basically half of the people that came to watch games - would rage and (rightfully so) call it being bm asshole =)
