It sounds easy, but the procedures and methods involved take months and months of practice to do properly. You also will be asked to perform 1 out of 27 random skills.. If you fail, it's game over and you have to retest. The skills range from, tib fib fractures, impaled object, evisceration, femur fracture, sucking chest wound, bent elbow, etc(list goes on and on). Ow....more ow...Oh god.. oh jesus...sucking chest wound... Man, as I read that list I felt every one of those. Pictured them in my head. I was thinking about doing EMT work, as big injuries and whatnot never really bugged me... Then I watched my best friend lose an eye to a bungee cord and the ex-army medic stop the bleeding from his eyesocket...and I gave up on that one. I am SO squeamish when it comes to eyes. Only eyes. I can watch / see / be around like...limb severance car accidents and whatnot, but nothing to do with eyes. Even thinking about that day makes me sick. So you are more of a man than I. Although it's pretty cool to have some insight on how people become full-time EMTs Grats on passing your test, and accomplishing your dreams, too! I spend alot of time at Chevy Chase so if you ever have a call out in that direction, make sure you ask for Torenhire. >> I know I'll be in good hands! | ||
