As an update I am in gold league again, but I doubt I'll be doing much playing as I'm in a month long trip in china. My biggest gripe is internet censorship. I haven't experimented with sc2, but not having ustream and YouTube has really been killing my Starcraft fix. Just as some more general knowledge facebook, gmail, and various other sites are blocked as well. The market of china is incredible, I hope that one day the Chinese government will come to a more internet connected society.

Ps. Yokou is amazing, lots of vods on there so not all is lost.

Yeah, use Youku in China. The starcraft game uploads are even faster there than on youtube. Not to mention you can watch shows that are normally banned on youtube in the US due to copyright laws.

Lol, China is communist only in name. The country is actually far more capitalist than any western country.

if you have a spare US key, you can register the account in China, and dl the Taiwanese/HK client and play on the Asia server from there. I am sure thats how most of the Chinese players are playing.
I'm playing on the Asian server myself from Taiwan, kinda annoying that I couldn't pick which beta client I wanted, it dled the Traditional Chinese one by default

I'm a bit disappointed youku is so slow from the UK. They usually have vods up really fast.

everyone in China who is internet savvy knows how to get over the great firewall. It shouldn't be a problem at all.

The proxies I tried didn't work but I read that VPN can get aroundit. Also, while chinas economy is capitalist in practice, many overarching themes are communist. Centralized banking, Government operates telecom, a one party system, and many other things.

LOL centralized banking? Yeah, the US doesn't have that... CCGaunt please keep your opinions about China to yourself. It'll do you and TL a big favor. A month long trip to China and suddenly you feel you can form opinions about the country as far sweeping as how Communist/Capitalist it is. I don't think I'll be interested at all in hearing your opinions after a month.

P.S. There are tons of Chinese versions of Facebook/Youtube/Google out there. Just because you don't know how to get to them or use them doesn't mean China's internet is less free.

Lol what? What other 'free' countries require you to use their own versions of everything, which are censored as fuck?

Chinese equivalents of Facebook are not censored. Google in China is now Google HK and results are no longer filtered.

@OP, either use a VPN or a proxy, you will have a high latency, but afaik there is no lan latency on bnet 2.0 so... whatever.

I can think of one.

Serious note: Google pulled out of China over censorship\hacking issues. Here

I know that the us has centralized banking, however this does not necessitate that the us has only pure capitailism. I have been to china many times before while I was younger and my entire family is situated in china. As well even if I simply go to china for a month, I believe the first hand experience I receive is good and am merely trying to share with others who are not fortunate enough to go. I did not openly critisize the Chinese government only on parts of their Internet censorship. As well, if you are not interested, don't reply. It saves many people time. While there are many Chinese versions of video streaming, search engines, and social networking, I was not talking about that fact. Again I was only talking about the few sites that are blocked on the mainland. Please do not continue to respond without actually thinking about he context and subject matter that I am talking about.

To all further responses I have acquired a wonderful tool to allow me to talk to people in the states, thanks for everyone's help and time.
