/////// UPDATE: Winners announced at the end of this post! Gratz and thank you all! ///////
I recently noticed i've passed the 500 mark. It is likely that 1k will take several years to reach at my rather conservative posting rate.
I've given away keys to RL friends who haven't really been using them at all so i'm hoping whoever "wins" them here will put them to better use.
The "contest" is as simple as its judging is subjective: recommend me some visual entertainment (preferably movie or televised series/mini-series) with a war theme - that i haven't yet seen.
Guidelines: modern war is preferred, post Vietnam is best, post WWII required. What i like: Generation Kill, Hurt Locker. What i don't like: Jarhead (bunch of dressed up hollywood actors) What works: Blackhawk Down (still a bit too much actor-emphasis and very censored & streamlined but high budget action clips make up for it). I think those are the ones i've seen - could be forgetting something though.
First two people to recommend a title i watch, enjoy and get a reasonable adrenaline kick from gets a key.
In the event that the contest fails, which isn't entirely unplausable given that i have done some looking for this stuff myself, i'll update the OP with some new type of contest. My aim is to give away two keys here, my own entertainment is a possible extra.
Multiple recommendations per post are accepted, however edited posts will be disqualified so if you think of more titles that haven't yet been mentioned, just post again, do NOT edit your first post.
Edit: I'll also add, it doesn't have to be a 'classic american war movie', it should however portray those emotions. A good example would be the movie Paradise Now which highlighted conflicted non-military combatants.
Edit 2: I was asked in PM about the deadline for this contest - i'll post a note on that matter here: I'm taking the day off tomorrow (Monday) to receive a furniture delivery, during the day i will acquire and watch those suggestions i deem most promising in order by time posted. I will keep reviewing suggestions during the day. When i've found two winners i will announce their names in the OP and PM them their beta keys. Should i find no winners (if no suggestions have brought me any entertainment (unlikely yet possible)) i'll simply give the keys away during the cast of KHAN vs CJ through a "contest" that will only require the ability to receive PMs on teamliquid.net and some attention payed to the #teamliquid IRC.
Edit 3: Winners! Iac29 for the suggestion Taeguki Hwinalrimyeo! Our other winner will actually be for the same suggestion! ImBLIND - you may be blind (and didn't see that Taeguki had already been suggested), however - i was blind too 'cause i wouldn't have seen this suggestion at all if it wasn't for your clarifying post! Check your PM for your keys - if you don't need them, feel free to redistribute them as you see fit, they're yours.
On a second note as i do this final edit - thank you everyone for your suggestions, one true gem came out of it that i hadn't even heard of - figures: you need TL to show you some great Korean production. As for the other suggestions, many good films were mentioned but i had seen them all - the reason i didn't list them was because i was asking for post WW2. I'd just like to add that Apocalypse Now ranks in my top 3 of favorite movies ever though.
I read up to the war them part and immediately thought of The Hurt Locker, an absolutely astounding film with some amazing cinematography and an epic story.
But, I guess that would not be a good reccommendation as you have already seen it ^^
So, here are some reccomendations:
- Platoon - Apocalypse Now - Thin Red Line - Three Kings - The Longest Day
These are te ones which immidiately come to mind, enjoy.

I would second Apocalypse Now . Fantastic Movie based on a great novel. I would recommend Catch 22 too.
The story of the man who selled the guns for every single conflitct since the end of the cold war. A must see. You will have a glance of every war and every dictator.
I'd be glad to have a beta key! thank you in advance
These are probably the best war movies ever made, Der Untergang focuses more on the big picture (It's about the last few days in the bunker in Berlin) while Stalingrad shows exactly how bad war really is. Not some private ryan shit where everyone runs around happy.
Most expensive drama ever created? Probably the best thing I've watched in 2-3 years... As someone that makes fun of my friends for watching K-dramas, this is nothing like the love story, I'm a tap working in a coffee shop dramas. Hot North Korean bitches, guns, explosions, helicopters, epic story line.
The Good, The Bad, The Weird
So good its being released in American theaters with subtitles.
Ahhhhh I couldn't remember the name... Apocalypse Now! Great, great movie. Similar to Platoon, I'd say they'd go excellent hand-in-hand to watch together.
Taegukgi Hwinalrimyeo - Korean version of Saving Private Ryan but with a way better storyline. The big brother wants to get his little brother out of the Korean War by getting a medal of honor, but both of them are scarred for life after a series of events that puts the two brothers on opposite ends of the battlefield. MUST WATCH!!!
I'm surprised no one mentioned Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, or 300. I saw Saving Private Ryan put down as a choice, and that is also an excellent title.
