So I've been getting calls on my cell phone from this private number for a while now. They've come completely randomly for the past couple months at all times of the day. At first they were coming a lot but slowly they started to back down. The majority of the calls, including the first few, came while I was at work or in class so I ignored them without a second thought. I am very hesitant to answer calls from area codes I don't know let alone private numbers.
So about an hour ago I left my desk to go grab some food. I needed a quick break from studying for finals. I come back to find my phone vibrating with a Private Number on the other end. Now its 9:15pm and I am getting my ass handed to me by a take home math final so I ignore the stupid call only to find that I have 8 new voicemails. All of them were from a private number and just had some dudes voice just saying a single letter or number. Sure enough he calls again. I answer the call, but don't say anything. I hear this kid’s voice go on about how he knows I'm there and he can hear things in the background, but I don't recognize his voice. Then he calls me by my first name and I am thinking "who the fuck is this kid, and how does he know me." Next he says something like "I have it on good word that you’re interested in a Starcraft 2 Beta Key." At this point I am seriously fucking confused. He knows my name and phone number, but he doesn't know that I've had a Beta key for about 2 weeks. (Since the gamestop pre-order keys) I proceed to say, I already have a key, please leave me alone. Then I hung up.
I leave my room once more to take a quick shower but when I come back, I have another message on my phone. But this time it’s from an area code in town. It went something like this.
“Hey Kyle, this is David. My buddy got a hold of my cell phone after I told someone I knew could use a key. I hope he didn’t leave anything stupid in your mail box. Take care.”
David is a kid I work with but I’ve probably only seen him twice since the beta began back in February. Or schedules rarely align. I look forward to hearing more the next time I see him.
Edit: It turns out my co-worker David knew someone with a beta key. He gave that kid my cell number told him I could use the key. Apparently his way of passing on the key was trying to reach me late at night and when that failed leaving the key in my voicemail one character at a time.
That's not creepy at all. Sometimes I look up friends I used to know in highschool and elementary school and I search through all their albums, and look through their friends list. THAT is creepy. This? Is psychotic.
Wtf. Why couldn't you talk to a guy? What was going to happen over the phone? You could have asked him who he was at least.. I feel bad for that guy, he has a big heart and probably cool as fuck.
