This post can win you a beta key; just solve this puzzle! Codes will help you get your key. They're on this post- somewhere, dying to get found. This is a tough challenge; even 1 is hard to find. Obtain the 2 codes, and the beta key is yours. Remember, they're on this post- somewhere, this post.
When you find a code it will look like this (just an example): code1hello The second code will look like this (just an example): code2goodluck Pm me when you have both codes.Good luck!
This puzzle will close 2nd May 16:00 KST

clues: since you are desparate! Not in spoilers 2 or 3. Remember, when you find a code it will have "code1" or "code2" at the start.
Closed!Closed!Closed!
Answer for code 1: It was hidden in the first spoiler. In the english alphabet and numeric system, some letter are higher than others. for example, b is higher than a. lbkfGTY95084.. are all high. others are low. change the high ones to 1 and low ones to zero. Then you get 011000110110111101100100011001010011000101110111011001010110110001101100. Using simple ascii substitution, you get code1well.
Answer for code 2: Hidden in first paragraph of the message.+ Show Spoiler +This post can win you a beta key; just solve this puzzle! Codes will help you get your key. Some of the word end in e, right? Well, remember the letter straight after the word ending in e. For example: the reunion.. r would be the letter. after getting all the letters, u get code2bot.

Whao... Is this just a trick to play with my mind?! There better be a code hidden in there...
|
This is so difficult... Pictures don't look modified in anyway...

Fuck i knew i shouldve taken that cryptopgraphy101 class

I pmed something to you, though I'm not sure it's right or anywhere close...

This is really insane great job on the puzzles.

If i do not respond to your PMs, that means you probably weren't right

clue:not in second spoiler.
|
what does this mean ?
Remember, they're on this post- somewhere, this post.
Are the 3 spoilers the clues to get both the codes? Looks incredibly hard

Thanks...trying trying trying.....
Edit: is the string "code1" part of the first code?

giving second clue; not in third spoiler!

I have no idea how to break this code... I need some Robert Langdon or whatever his name is to decipher this for me.

These threads discriminating idiots :/

weirdly enough there is no "1" character in the first spoiler

Theres no 1 in the spoiler but the "intro paragraph" was broken up very oddly and there is definitely the 1 character in there somewhere. The second clue might be in the first spoiler.
Also trying ie "every X characters" doesn't seem to work for the spoiler clue for all the integers (unless my python code is screwd)

third cleu not in spoiler 1 =) wouldent be suprised

I expect R1CH to pop in and be like...its obvious clue1 is !!!

Cuz he's actually smart =(

R1CH has a decrypt built-in function in the forum admin board, to decrypt any post like OP !

Just won a key from another compo, but I think it has something to do with how the first paragraph is worded. Good luck all!

yeah please give another clue. this code is so hard to decipher :D
|
Can you be more precise about the whole set-up, please?
The clue is in the spoiler 1 "dasdakdadsakhsdhkshkd" thingie and refering to spoilers 2 and 3 ?! If so, you cannot get the code from starting to look at spoilers 2 and 3? In other words, I have to start identifying something out of spoiler 1, is that correct?
Please add some explaining, cause the initiative is awesome
|
Well I sent in an answer, hope it was correct.

Oh by the way: Who is the 4th guy in the pictures? Can't recall his name...

I'm pretty sure that's the case. Still haven't figured it out though.
Edit: I can't believe my years on hackits (dot) de [when it was still up] aren't helping!! -.-
|
Im still not sure if he means "in the post" as in "information only withing this posting" or "information that lead you outside (a homepage/research in general)". The post itself does not contain any valuable information, no hidden sentences, no allusions...So there has to be a lead to a valuable outside source.
So far, I only found junk when searching the internet trying to get some bits and pieces from the spoiler #1 (eggs from doves, trashy movies and super fancy out of control stuff and yet, no valuable lead at all... anyone further ahead? (I already got a key, I'm just participating for the fun of it)
|
I would say some things I've found but I'm selfish and I want to win...
@TheDominator: Any other cryptic messages to give us that may help steer us along?
|
Have sent a PM hope I got it right.
|
This is almost impossible T_T
|
Well, I submitted something I found. It fit the description of an answer, so I'm hoping I wasn't over-analyzing from the wrong perspective.
|
any news on who won this yet?

I think you all are getting trolled. HARD

Second post.
hmm...so i think the first code is something to do with...
+ Show Spoiler +Punctuations. This quote On April 29 2010 16:51 TheDominator wrote: Remember, they're on this post- somewhere, this post.
triggered me to think...there is no need he had put that comma there...he could have just said somewhere on this post. So that led me to think along the lines of punctuation in that paragraph. I excluded apostrophes just because it wouldn't work that way. I listed all the punctuations, ignoring the text and equated each punctuation to the code...we know the first 5 letters to be code1...that becomes the key for the rest of the code.
Fingers crossed
Oh also I haven't attempted this one yet, but I think the second code might have to do with...
+ Show Spoiler +Inverting the text and numbers in spoiler 1. There has to be a reason that the L is capitalized in the first spoiler and I'm thinking that it could stand for a 7. I got really excited when I looked at the code upside down and everthing made sense till I hit c...didnt make much sense upside down, but it could part of the code2...I will look into it and post any further ideas I have.
Good luck everyone ^_^...or rather for Sean Plott, I should go 8>.
|
Well, I actually PMed a code in the form of code#x, but it turned out to be wrong. So I'm giving up.
|
I also PMed an answer but still no reply..
|
well, I just received the 2key mail, so I'm off this competition
good luck
|
Yea, at this point I feel like I'm one of the guys working on a super bad consiracy theory...
I like the idea about the punctuation thing. It is definitely something strange in there... I still don't know if the whole thing is a research issue or a decoding thing (see spoiler #1)...
Maybe the guys that already received a WRONG reply post what was on their mind to give a bit of impression and inspiration
Happy guessing!
EDIT: Don't really think it's something with inversion in spoiler #1. I tried some google search on some parts of the spoiler, but no page I landed on, contained "code" anywhere. Also, I tried to find some "system" within the spoiler #1, but since I got no idea about encryption (which I doubt that it is actually any sort of super dooper awesome encryption...) I did not find anything yet. This included looking at capital letters only, at numbers only, etc...

I am 99% confident you will find both codes in the first paragraph. Everything else just looks like it's extra blabber to draw newbs away from the important stuff. I don't think any of the 3 spoiler "clues" will help you find the codes at all.
BTW, the extra 1% that prevents me from having 100% confidence is the fact that I don't know for certain that these codes exist.
Just look how there are both "1" and "2" in this paragraph. And they are used awkwardly, where "one" and "two" could be used instead. And the idea that you need code1 or code2 to start with supports this.
If you want to know what exactly I did to find my incorrect code, which ended up being "code1xxxx" just ask. I'm thinking the real code has something more to do with the two sentences " They're on this post- somewhere, dying to get found." and "Remember, they're on this post- somewhere, this post. " but I'm sick of trying to get incorrect answers so here's all the info.
Edit: I'm not even sure if it needs to be rot13'd first or not. Or something else entirely.
Also, if you ever need to crack a playfair cipher, just ask. Not that that's relevant to this contest.
|
Thought it might be a songtext or something, because "dying to be found" sounds pretty much like it But so far nothing promising. Again: I already got a key, so I'm just throwing in ideas and thoughts. Like a band called "the codes" does acutally exist but nothing with any promising song text...
|
There is no "1" in the code is there?

abdcousglollllvnuqsvuoovvuwwwbobklvdesleutwaalvcwbdnbdnn
That is just the letters without numbers or caps lock, thats painful when looking at it and try to read it i get around 5 words.
But spent to long on this, brain hurts.
EDIT: code2bob

Is dominator still posting in this thread? I haven't received a wrong reply though dominator did say if he didn't reply, it would mean it isn't right...but I'd rather he replied ...
Apart from that, gl everyone :D

So, is it over? What were the codes and how are they divined?

It surely is bit arbitrary... Take an apple, replace the apple with an orange and you get code1
But still, we need more guessing games on TL
