How does anyone ever feel good after watching a movie? if the real world was as cool as movies we wouldn't watch movies. the purpose of film, tv, etc is for us to see stuff that's entertaining. if you feel like shit or feel crappy after watching a movie it likely stems from your disappointment with your life, not from the world in general being worse than the movie world. edit: i apologize if this comes off as an insult, i say this with as little judgment as possible, i don't mean to say your life is shit or something. but if you really feel this bad after movies, you are probably unhappy for other reasons. for example, after avatar a lot of people became depressed (there was a thread on a forum with hundreds of pages), and its not because avatar was so awesome or something, but more because these people were just unhappy and avatar helped to compound that already existing depression.

No bullshit, I just watched Avatar last weekend (finally out on dvd, 3D movies are all dubbed in japanese here) and the only thing I took away from the movie was how stupid it was that the mech suits had big knives.
