Hi guys,
Although I'm just gold protoss at the moment, I still have an opinion about SC2.
To be honest, I think SC2 is less social. Moreover, there are no channels. How am I supposed to make friends? 
Despite being a temporary issue, there are no UMS hosted games as well, so you have to play "serious" games. Hopefully, Blizzard add their map editor soon, so this can be sorted out.
Nevertheless, I'm satisfied that they added mic communication, so 2x2 games will be easier. 
I'm optimistic that Blizzard will continue to do their job well, it's a matter of time.
Edit: Also, US, EU and Asia communities are divided.
Just my 2 cents.

Chat channels are deliberately not included in the beta for that very reason, It's a beta. Your main task is to test the gameplay, you're not in beta to sit around in a chat channel.

How can you be in the beta and not know this stuff. The map editor just came out. Channels were said to come around release. This has been discussed for weeks.

he got beta key like the first day but never actually played it...and when he try to play he got owned by people on ladder and can't find place to rage..so here he is..on blog :p

I really got that key after the 1st week of releasing beta and I have played the game regularly since then. I don't rage as my win rate is higher, but you just make up stupid assumptions.
To the guy before you, sc2 development as whole. Of course, I know it's beta.
Damn, so many kids... won't ever learn to have fun.

I haven't received the patch yet, so don't blame me for not knowing about the editor. You're right about the rest though.
