Yeah I wonder how other Zergs fare so far in the beta. I got beta two days ago, playing mainly 2v2s with an old friend of mine I met during my time in the broodwar.de-staff.
In 1v1 I went 4-1 in my placement matches (beginner), got placed into a gold league. 8-6 stats so far, in 2v2 we are in silver with 13-11 stats (3-2 placements), although he carries me a bit 
I tried competing in the gold ladder with my trusty strategy I figured out during the placement matches - tech straight roaches, win the game! Got my balls slapped quite a bit with that
After watching mTw.FallY streaming, I decided to switch to a ling heavy opening, getting an expansion and then either hydra vs terra or hydra/roaches muta/roaches vs toss, although the muta tech is a bit too slow for my liking. Mutas come out when he knocks my nat down with mass stalker colossi. Still trying to figure that shit out.
What impressed me was the game Lalush vs HasuObs during the ESL.tv Finals a few days ago, where Lalush managed to put enormous pressure on the P with pure Hydra Roach Army, just to lose to awesome storms. P was going the usual "every-unit-i-can-build" ball, stalker zealots immortals colossi templar. Gay.
Also, ZvZ. Either its ling into hydra or roach into hydra. I think the ling into hydra with expansion might be stronger, but atleast I struggle with the timing of it. Played 2 ZvZ today, both times I was able to defend the roach push with 3 spinecrawlers and a couple lings, but he reached critical mass before I got 6+ hydras and he pushed me in. Sucks.
Also, need to find a counter to MMMs that dont involve infestors. My micro is too bad for that shit, I couldn't handle Defilers in BW, so I can't handle infestors in SC2

could you explain your ZvT and ZvP builds in more detail?
I usually go 13pool->13gas->16roach warren->mass drones->with 1pair of ligns (and queen) adn then go 1base roach ->tech to muta->exp->spire; but I cannot produce enough roaches to defend to some sort of a maruder or dragoon push (Im simply not sure which units should I use lol)

i usually skip roaches alltogether, they just suck against all kind of stalker/zeal/immortal combo, in zvt the same, i just try to hold my expansion and get hydras so far. 50% of the time it works, the rest of the time not. muta tech should be viable as soon as you get a third base running, i find mutas way to inefficient in small numbers most of the time plus i lack ground defense. but i have to play more to find something solid lol. just as i said, ling heavy builds tend to work better at gold level, atleast for me.
edit: where can i upload replays btw? no stupid rapishare or something of that kind pls, i hate downloading from there so i won't do that to anyone  8[

lol roaches suck? Man you must be new.. Roaches > until things like Colossus or High Temps show up.
