How the hell do you manage to misspell the title of the blog but not the same word when it appears in it?! /grammar police Seriously, the best thing you could do is be honest with her and tell her right away that you can't always be honest with her because that's just the way you are, but you're going to try to change that. That's exactly what I did (man, I can't imagine my life without small lies here and there, they make things way more interesting) and it worked. Getting the feel on when you can (even should) and can't lie is another thing. That's the hard part. Actually, after a while in a healthy relationship, she'll always know when you're lying anyway. But if you disclose to her that you might do that from time to time she'll accept it and won't bug you about it which is great for both sides. She knows when you're lying, you know that she knows, yet you feel good with another "successful" lie. | ||

From how I see things, you're approaching all this the wrong way. You want to completely change who you are, by stopping all your lies, and everything. You're a cheesy zerg player that's trying to switch to being a standard terran, without ever looking back. Yeah, you might like it for a bit, and it might feel good and different, but sooner or later you'll be tempted to go back. And the moment you try zerg again, you're going to cheese. Fuck that. You've already expressed that this does indeed happen, and that you do give in and hit rock bottom. The problem isn't your willpower, it's your approach. I'm 22, and I've been lying my whole life. I honestly think it's a central part of my personality, and I don't think I could change that, at least not within the next 5 years. Lying is a fundamental part of who I am. If I wanted to switch from being a rational person that makes all decisions logically, to an emotional person who lets momentary feelings govern everything, I would fail miserably, no matter what. This shit's the same to me. Every liar I've ever known is still a liar today. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you're different, and maybe you really will be able to stop it all with the drive you have now. If so, more power to you. But if not, then once again, you need to fix the stuff that's really bad. You've been doing things you're not proud of, and then lying about what you've done. You're saying that you want to stop lying, but in my eyes the problem's that you're doing those bad things in the first place. Quit that shit. | ||
