Starcraft's popularity has decreased in recent years. Starcraft 4 is widely regarded as the best part of the franchise and the number of official IeSPA (International eSports Association) sanctioned progamers dropped below 3 million under Starcraft 5 and 6, primarily due to Battle.net 8.3's hacking, identity theft and credit card problems. EUrope's unexpected loss to underdog United Republic of Korea at the last Olympics finals may also have played a part in Starcraft's recent decline in popularity. Nevertheless, Starcraft 7's release is eagerly awaited. Publisher Blizzard/Google has announced the long requested adoption of brainwave controls, which finally eliminates physical handspeed limitations and enables handicapped people to play competitively in national and international leagues. Also, rumor has it that Starcraft 7 will sport a revolutionary 2D graphics engine, and will be released "soon". Lead designer James Browder, Jr. was not available for an interview. | ||
