I played Silver/Gold like a junkie when I was ~9-10 years old, and I remember it as the best generation. Fighting Red at the end was the bee's knees.

They should just make another game, max level 300, you start from Gen 1 -> 2 -> 3, etc. That would be such an epic game. Though it would probably require more than one cartridge.

Shit, back in the days when I had my Crystal version I put like... I want to say around 800 hours into it? And that's a very conservative estimate. I was on my way to completing the Pokedex and had trained about 2 full boxes of level 100s, and after catching everything in Crystal I started trading for stuff only findable in gold/silver and using the time machine. Lol i was such a hardcore gamer with my pokemon yellow xD

I remember getting my pikachu to lvl 100 around lt. surge's gym... pretty god damn harcore

and the music in HG/SS looks amazing...
they didn't even butcher my fave surf theme like I thought they would

Only complaint music wise is what they did to Goldenrod, I much prefer the OST from G/S/C in that case.

RBY and G/S/C were good. Anything after that started to get extremely bland for me. The pokemon lost their distinguishing characteristics the first two generations had and it just got old.

But holy balls was 1st and 2nd gen epic. I would still buy a new pokemon game in this day and age if it features real time battle...

Also Red is a bad ass, everything Ash wished he could have been.

Y'know I've always thought that's what the Pokemon Stadiums should've been. Like, instead of pressing the C-arrow buttons to select what attack to use, it's an FPS sort of thing and pressing the C button corresponds to shooting that attack. That would be badass.

Silver and Crystal were the shiznite, best music too. Gen III is just terribad in comparison, and time consuming (damned EVs...), never even tried Gen IV. But I don't own a DS, so it looks like I'll have to wait till DS becomes outdated and just download the ROM for SoulSilver and DS emulator off the interweb for a small fee of zero pesos.
