Recording VODs in SC2

I watch a lot of beta replays and our admin bumped into an idea that it'll be good to record some of the games. I tried hypercam but screen blinks in awful way (the same applies for camtasia). Fraps is good, but it lowers overall performance which cause beta to show me slideshow. So I ask you TLers - what applications do YOU use for recording in-game videos of SC2? Is Fraps the only solution? Or maybe I just messed up settings in Camtasia and HyperCam (recorded on 20/30 fps and ffdshow codec).

Fraps should work well. If it's slowing your game down by a lot, it means your computer isn't good enough. Or you need to adjust the settings in Fraps to make it less choppy.

Another option is Livestream Procaster. There's an option in the Preferences to save the video to your My Videos folder.

Thank you. Without Fraps game runs smoothly, but I don't want to cut the resolution (on half it is just unacceptable). In that case, I'll try Procaster.

If it's for a VOD you can record with camtasia as well.

You need to choose Window mode to get rid of the blinking. I record with "Windowed (fullscreen)" mode and it works just fine.

My god, I've never thought blinking was caused by this. Thanks LaLuSh, that information changes everything

Thing about things like camtasia they don't hook into the game feed they they need alot of cpu power to look at the screen and encode what it sees the larger and more complex the screen is the harder it becomes.

Procaster and fraps hook into the stream fraps does near lossless but it makes huge files ionno what procaster does.
