This game is part of our generation, it's like it is embedded with us, flowing through our blood, and bringing us good old memories of what it was at one point in time and how it made us feel. This game will go down as a legend, much like Pacman and Super Mario Bros. did where everyone knows it and can have a chuckle or two remembering it.
But we don't have the same passion for the old hardcore classic games as our fathers maybe did, because it was a game that was born with them and died with them, likewise it will be the case with the kids that were born a couple years ago and will be playing this Star Craft 2 game while wondering how the first one must have been like.
It will die with us and we'll carry it in our hearts forever and there's nothing nobody can do to take the privilege of one day at our 80's or 90's to pop up that dusty old box open and install the good old 90's Star Craft: Brood War game, while maybe shedding a tear or two as the nostalgia fills up our hearts during that lonely sunset in which we chose to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world, to be with our good old buddy once again, remembering those moments in which we laughed together once upon a time.
But time goes on and I hope SC2 can truly bring this type of feelings to the new generation of kids whom at the age of 8 or 9 will be playing the game and maybe grow with it. But rest assured that I'm so damn proud to have been born near the precious 90's to get to meet this diamond.

This is exactly how I feel about sc2. I feel like I'm just starting to understand something about BW to make me not suck ass, and now people are jumping ship. Oh well, whoever said CSL is keeping BW alive for them is right on the money; I'm not quite ready to let bw go that and I don't have a key.

i think the reason people are saying this is mostly because a lot of the people aren't on BW b/c they're too busy watching the SC2 streams, because of the beta key rationing.
I'm sure that'll change in a bit. It hasn't even been a week.

Once the newness of SC2 wears off I think people may begin to realize that SC2 kinda sucks. By then it may be too late though.
I think we all know what is probably going to happen.

I Think that SC:BW proscene on korea or the ppl who follow that proscene here in teamliquid isnt going to die... yeah maybe you see more ppl on SC2 streams than WL streams but you have to remember something... when blizzard said: "we are going to release SC2" a bunch of new ppl joined teamliquid (a lot of ppl) and they were expecting the SC2 release more than anything, yeah I love to watch SC2 streams and I would love to play SC2 but for me at least and I think that a lot of ppl feels like me WL, OSL, MSL streams >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SC2 stream

I was excited for the beta, when it came out, i was losing interest in BW for a good 1-2 days, then i came back to BW raped a cw and im back into it again. fuck ssc2

I feel the exact same way, it's so sad to finally realize that you pretty much have to let go at one point. I always knew this time would come, but i would always say to myself "oh well, SC2 is not here yet, we have plenty of time!" but this time it actually is here and it's easy to tell. All the big names in the foreigner scene is playing SC2, no SC streams up anymore, Light disbanding etc.
The worst thing of it all though is that i don't feel like i can be as tight with the rest of you guys who are already in the SC2 beta making friends right now, i mean people are already talking about Dayvie as if they're best friends. Now is the perfect time to get into the whole SC2 community when it's still so small, it feels like once i'll be able to play SC2 there's already gonna be 10million players and everyone is gonna be anonymous like xDarkx12395, LOLTOSS1337, k!llf4ce or whatever. I know that's for sure what's gonna happen because when i started playing SC seriously everything was already "settled" everyone already knew everyone etc.
Oh well, it's all invetiable and i hope i'll be able to try SC2 beta soon enough.

I am as well. I just got my B- after fighting through quite a few seasons of iccup and PGT.
I always find myself getting much better after each inactive period, however after this inactive period this game might not even be around anymore :/
I guess we can look at that WC2 community for hope though. If WC2 didn't die and still has a nice community, then I most definitely have hope for starcraft given the koreans and how much better the game actually is. I am going to aim for double B- over the summer, but after that I might put the game down for a while depending on if I transfer colleges or not.

nah, I think I could hit B- in a few more seasons. Maybe like 5-7 more lol, there was a span of maybe 4 weeks right before school where I just played BW and i was beating some C+ players and C wasnt even hard at that time. Since then though, school and work are draining me.

Hmm i myself havent found any interest in SC2 at all, although ive been playing Starcraft since 98'. Tried watching the streams but never had any interest to watch em for more then 3 minutes, mainly becuase i just got bored =\. I'll still play it when it comes out, and hopefully start to find the same interest as i first did when i started playing SC2
