Windows 7 Prob

Hi, I have this annoying issue where the desktop background that I want keeps changing to the default Win7 Themes whenever my computer is rebooted or if I just log out once.

I've tried rightclicking->personalize->click the image I want->save changes. After reboot it goes back to themes.

I've tried deleting the themes to avoid the problem altogether by going to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes , however Win7 put a lock on those files so even the computer administrator cant touch them.

Please someone tell me that I'm a dumbass and for not being able to find such a simple solution to this problem.

1. Go to your services (Start > Type "services.msc" in the search box)
2. Scroll down until you see the "Theme" service
3. Check to see if it is set to Automatic (if it is not, set it to automatic). If it isn't even started, start the service.
4. Double Click on this service to open properties. Go to "Log On" tab
5. Make sure that it is set to log in with Local Account (first option). DO NOT check the "Allow Service to Interact with Desktop"
6. Restart the Themes service (Right Click > Restart)
7. Try making your changes and see if they remain on reboot.

Appreciate the response Neo, however that did not fix my problem >.> Here's a picture of what I am talking about.

The "Unsaved Theme" keeps reappearing to "my themes" and for some reason Windows always recognizes it as my default.

I have another great problem which im not able to find a solution after reading many many posts on other forums etc. My win 7 randomly freezes up, i cant move my mouse or do anything, this happens when i leave my computer idle downloading stuff from utorrent. If anyone knows something plz pm me.

ffswowsucks >> Randomly freezing up without any warning is usually a hardware problem (most likely overheating). Get a monitor for your CPU and GPU and monitor to see if they're burning. I would try cleaning out dust from it as well.

in windows xp it never had any problems till i installed win7 so i dont think its a hardware problem. more likely a driver problem?

Overheating issues (well any hardware issue) develops overtime regardless of the OS installed especially if you never clean your computer. If it was a driver problem, the OS would have at the very least displayed a BSOD.
