I've had trouble sleeping all my life. Currently it's 3:23 AM and i'm nowhere near sleep. So i decided to write a blog about the crazy shit that's been going on lately.

As i've said in earlier posts before, lately i've been in close contact with members of the Rainbow Family.

Yesterday i got to go on a bit of a walk-along. At a place whose location i can't reveal other than that it is in my home state (Washington), i was taken to a rather unimpressive looking two story factory building in a fairly run-down neighborhood. To either side, the aged relics of a once powerful industrial complex slowly rusted to nothing. It's not a building one would want to enter voluntarily, streaked with rust, and with all visible windows showing a solid black color, at first, when my contact brought me here, i thought we had come to the wrong location.

Entering the building was one of the most unimpressive sights ever. Immediately through the door we entered a long, well lit hallway. The hallway stretched on for a good while before it turned, doors periodically interrupting the smooth walls, many of them open, which revealed flickering flourescent lights and peeling paint, the dust of decades of neglect and the vague scent of mildew. Needless to say, i was doubting the veracity of the claims of my family insider.

We walked down the hall for a couple minutes, the general state of disrepair slowly starting to fade as we reached a pair of double doors with a sign that said "Glasses on beyond this point" stenciled on in garish red letters.

Reaching into a cabinet by the door, my contact who up until this point had been fairly silent, asked me if I was ready. You see, as i said before, i've been in contact with the Rainbow Family for about 5 years now, only really delving into their mysterious way of life now that i'm out of college with tons of free time on my hands.

Yesterday was to be the day of my formal initiation. It was my day to a thumbprint of LSD-25. These almost legendary doses are taken by licking a thumb, pressing it to a solid crystal of LSD, and licking it off. With a vague sense that i was about to experience something like never before, i agreed and was handed three pairs of glasses on a sort of necklace assembly. One of them was tinted yellow, the other red, and the other grey. He instructed me to put on the yellow glasses and, making sure they were fastened properly, led me through the door.

At first the glare was blinding, but after a couple seconds i could make out figures around me. Several men huddled around a table about ten feet from the door, one of probably ten that were spaced evenly across the room. Against the walls was a menagerie of machinery, all of it scientific in nature, the purpose of most of these was completely unknown to me.

We walked up behind the men, and i observed their work. As i watched they carefully measured out Sulfuric Acid and extracted pure Ergotamine Tartrate, using a variety of very advanced and difficult procedures, before putting the pyrex dishes of Ergot+Sulfur Trioxide under the source of the glare, a blindingly powerful yellow light, at approximately 600 watts. As i was told later, a single batch at a time here could yield approximately 10 grams of LSA, which was later converted to LSD through other means.

After we watched for several minutes as the men finished their work, one of them detached from the group, turning around with a smile and a booming laugh. His white thick beard and long silver hair tumbled onto his chest and shoulders respectively, both of them curled and knotted in an unruly fashion with apparent disregard for the large amounts of gel he obviously used to try to control them.

He introduced himself to me as Mark, standing nearly eye to eye with me, at 6'4" himself. His powerful build and twisted, misshapen nose told me what he himself did only seconds later. He had once been, of all things, a boxer, and he still retained most of the physically intimidating presence he had had then. He told me that it was nice to meet someone who "Didn't buy into that pop-culture bullshit", and with a powerful handshake instantly gained my respect.

He gestured that we should walk, his green eyes twinkling with what must have been anticipation. We both knew that i was in for quite the experience. We walked through the room at a fairly languid pace, past table and table of differing scientific machinery, all of which would eventually accomplish the production of, as he said, nearly a kilogram of LSD per year. This walk also proved what i had suspected: Mark was one of the most intelligent men i have ever met. His obvious mastery of a very tricky field showed me that he knew what he was doing. As we reached the end of the room, he gestured to me to put on the red glasses. We walked into another similarly equipped chamber, with the tables that were now starting to look familiar. Once again, i couldn't guess the function of probably half of the machinery located therein. He explained to me as we walked past several more groups of men that this was where they used Hydrochloric acid (explaining the giant refrigerated tanks marked ACID at the side of the room) to purify the product and complete the second of three phases of the reaction. We stopped for a minute or so to observe men repeating part of the same procedure from the first room, placing pyrex dishes under a similarly ridiculously powerful
light, this time giving off red light. However, because of it's wavelength, as mark told me, it was rather dangerous to work in this room for any length of time. Men worked here in 20 minute shifts, normally liberally applying sunscreen. It seemed that only after he said it i felt the faint burn of the light. Normally, throughout my life, my south-eastern european ancestry has served me in good stead against sunburn, but i wasn't eager to test it. Finding another reason to give a booming laugh, this time at my newfound anxiety, he led me into the third and final room, and i grasped for myself that i should put on the grey glasses.

If my eyes had been stung in the last two rooms, this time they were all out assaulted. The glasses weren't as effective as i would have liked in blocking out the glaring white light that permeated this room, where the final stages of chemical decomposition and recomposition were accomplished by people with degrees in fields i barely even recognized. My estimate of the total staff of this facility is around 50.

After an extremely interesting and educating tour, i was led to a disappointingly unspectacular room which closely resembled a refrigerated meat locker. Expecting a treasure chest and music reminiscent of a Zelda game, instead Mark reached into a carton and pulled out a small vial. Inside were nearly clear crystals with the slightest tinges of yellow and, in the right light, red. A masking tape label read "Batch 31, 10,000µg".

The trip back to my house was accomplished as fast as i could move. It dawned on my repeatedly during the drive that i had enough LSD to get probably 200 people high, located in a little vial in my pocket.

My contact, who understood my trepidation, told me to my relief that i could do it any time i was ready, and that i should probably prepare myself spiritually. He didn't want to accompany me, believing that his interference could only be negative. I went inside alone.

So now i'm sitting here at my desk, unable to sleep, due to excitement. I've attempted meditation, trying to find the right mindset to prepare myself for something that can't be anticipated. When i finally get up the courage, i'll dip my finger into that vial and take the plunge.
Wish me luck.

Sounds like a cool experience... I wouldn't take heart absolutely everything they say though... and perhaps try a little of the LSD before doing the whole thing. I don't know much about the process of making LSD, but some things strike me as strange.

LSD as a final product breaks down under bright lights... so for yourself store it in the dark and I would wonder why the whole facility seems bright when they're dealing with something light-sensitive

Also... the red light that you speak of actually has the longest wavelength, so its ability to ionize molecules is actually the weakest. Besides that, sunscreen as I understand it uses chemical filters to deflect UV light, not light in the visible spectrum.

But yeah I don't really know what was going on there, and not that knowledgeable about the whole procedure... just saying

Have fun with the LSD!

A couple things.
Once the process is done, the LSD breaks down in bright light. Until then the lights are required during the manufacturing process. You can read more about it online because honestly it's extremely complicated.
Secondly, the red light was by FAR the most uncomfortable. Say what you will, but it felt like standing under a heat lamp, and they had a reason for not having people in there for lengths of time. Obviously i can't judge whether or not the sunscreen works because i had no chance to try it.
Third, i've done LSD lots of times. Did 750µg just a couple weeks ago. (This is a large dose, believe me). My dose with the thumbprint will probably be a couple milligrams.
Also, i would easily trust the family with my life. They've spent decades perfecting their craft and they are obviously quite good at it.

Actually i find that by writing well a true story becomes even more interesting.
Also, i've decided i'm going to take some benadryl and go to sleep. Tomorrow i'll do my thumbprint as i'm just too tired to enjoy the full trip at this point.

Oh nono... I don't mean to question their methods... obviously they know tons more than me, but yeah I know that at different stages different wavelengths are required.

And I beleive that standing under the red light would be most uncomfortable, but in terms of energy, its closer to microwaves and infrared, than to UV and in my mind the sunscreen wouldn't do much as far as protecting you. However, like I said before I really don't know what was going on... (and kinda wish I did... drug chemistry is one of the coolest areas)

I didn't know that you were experienced with LSD, but a couple milligrams for someone who hasn't had it before would knock them on their ass.. Anyways... have fun with it and blog the trip if you can!

I laughed heartily. I'm 6'5".
So i'm awake now. Honestly it's quite daunting, staring at this little vial. I'm still not free of responsibility today, i've got to make some calls and tell my friends what i'll be doing in case they are trying to get ahold of me. But then it'll be time. this is probably T-1 hour or so.

It's been 36 hours. I'm coming down, finally.
I had over 12 hours of complete ego death, almost all of which i remember (but can't express)
I had another 14+ hours of just being really really fucking high! I couldn't even begin to function as a human. I tried to post on TL because i was bored but every time i tried to type the words i through satanic messages were coming out. It was truly terriying.
I'm still tripping pretty hard, tracers, geometric patterns, psychadelic thoughts etc, so i'll try to post more eloquently later.
