So I'm pretty sure this is what I'm getting because its in my budget and it seems ok but I was wondering what kind of feedback tl could give on it. My friend who is a bit more computer savvy said everything was pretty good especially for the price except the allocated shared graphics I was also wondering if anyone could shed some light on that (I mean ill mostly be playing starcraft and poker and school so its not a huge concern for me but I was still curious as to why that's an issue because he didn't really elaborate and I didn't think about it until I left lol). I'm doubting it would run sc2 but I intended on getting a desktop for that anyway because it would be cheaper and more powerful for that and video games in general anyway, but again, what do you think tl?

i worked in a computer shop and i always thought the cheap toshiba laptops were the worst quality out of all of them.
the higher end toshibas seem, strangely enough, really good though.

ps what's your budget, and stance on refurbished laptops?
im pretty sure you can get a decent gaming laptop like a refurbed g51 asus laptop for nearly that price maybe $700

Hahaha I just kind of realized you posted all 3 replies but tbh I can't give you a full budget until I get paid tomorrow because I need to factor in gas for the next 2 weeks but I get paid tomorrow and tax return tommorw so I know ill be able to afford at least 700 dollars. The only realspecification I'm going to be adamant on is a minimum of 17in screen :<
Edit: yeah I saw the vista too and was like "ewww" but yeah I know what you mean I mostly want the 17in screen for poker and that's the reason I'm adamant about that but asus makes some sexy laptops apparently ^^; thanks for inputs

Yeah its mostly for school but starcraft and poker are just a perk and I know ill play them during downtime at school (only going to a cc) and I really don't mind it being a "Klunker" and I'm going to be using it also like a desktop in a way because my original desktop was raped and pillaged by a virus my mother got from facebook and just loops boot up over and over so yeah it will be useful. And I'm not very familiar with laptops I know it says what the video card is but is that open or closed architecture for laptops I've been curious or is it varied I for some reason assumed it was closed and just combined with the mobo for size reasons

I got a dell mini 10 for $300 with windows 7, and I'm loving it. This is just my opinion, but I had a clunker laptop previously and I hated it. It was loud, hot, and a pain in the ass to lug around. Starcraft is so old, just about anything you're buying new should be able to run it. Same with poker. I think that the downside of a big, heavy laptop really, really outweighs the upside.

This is a solid laptop w/ a 17" for under $700.
It won't run starcraft 2, but yeah, you should be building a desktop anyway.
If you're going this route though, you should seriously consider buying a smaller laptop, you don't need to necessarily go down to netbook size, but 17"ers are a pain in the ass to carry around. You don't seem like you'll be playing a ton of poker tables so 17" really is not necessary.

Voodoo Envy 133 ^_^ best damn laptop out there for its price and how thin it is. supposed to run like a desktop although thinner than the macbook air. It is made of carbon stuff....comes in black and white.

You should check if the Lappy's manufacturer is in Microsoft's Windows Vista to Seven program, most are.

So my budget is 800 dollars max right now total this would leave me with enough money for gas for the next 2 weeks until I get paid

I am A+ certified so I'm not completely stupid with computers granted it has been awhile since I've actually had to use the info but I understand enough about it there are minor things I may not know and laptops really arnt my strong suit which is why I ask for opinions so please don't give me dumbed down general advice no offense to anything at all and I'm not trying to be mean I never gave background knowledge about my computer intelligence so I can't complain but yeah this comment made me feel like I appeared to be a know nothing idiot and I wanted to clarify

The "allocated shared graphics" means it will share (a part of) it 's memory with the cpu. So no you won't get in any trouble playing starcraft 1 and most likely sc2 too.
apart from that i don't know anything of the build quality.
edit: you should give us a bit more details like: battery length, if you can wait, weight, screen size etc...

Well I can wait for any amount of time really I'm just anxious my budget is 800 max although id like to if possible veer for a lower amount as id like to save more money for school but that is my budget nonetheless so don't hold back and my only other want need is a screen size of atleast 17in that's pretty much it

This is kind of offensive because you know nothing about me there's a reason I'm adamant on a 17" screen regardless so keep your mindless opinion about that to yourself, your comment on carrying the 17in around being a pain in the ass was enough thank you for the insight and recommendations anyway I know what I'm getting into in the lugging it around part I'm mostly going to be using it as a desktop until I build a new one anyway so it won't be moved allthat often until I go to school which isn't a big deal to me.

oke what I 'd do is this:
Wait for a laptop with an i3 processor and a mobility radeon hd 5470. Good battery life and the latest technology. The only catch is that you'll probably have to e-mail them for what kind of memory they 'll be using for the 5470 (ddr3/gddr3/gddr5 or *sigh* ddr2).
Like this but i can't find a variant in an american store :'( (I only know newegg thou)
With the requirements you listened i picked the cheapest laptop with non-intel graphics

I think the major flaw of this laptop is the battery duration.

The problem with 'everything being good for that price except the allocated graphics' is that the graphics card is what separates a laptop that is going to be capable of running SC2 from a laptop that isn't going to be able to do so. I think it's going to be a fairly large stretch to find a 17'' that can run SC2 for under $800.
A 15'' for $800 should be able to run SC2 however.

Ahh thank you very much you've been extremely helpful and haven't thrown in useless side garbage hahaha but ill keep looking around before I make a real decision and keep in mind some of the things you've told me ^^; its just kind of annoying that some places don't give full specs of their product

Oh, I saw SC2 and then just skimmed over D:
in that case, if you aren't running anything heavy, you can just go with a cheap laptop from Newegg.
