This blog might seem a bit out of place on TL, but I'm gonna ask anyways.
I was wondering if there were any brothers from any fraternities on TL. I'm going to be attending the "recruitment week" events for ΣAE next week (we can't call it rush on our campus) and I'm confident in my shot at a bid. So I was wondering if any other TLers have gone greek, and what their experiences with it were.

already multiple blogs about this, but why the hell would you make the title of your blog the name of some random frat you haven't even pledged for.
|
why can't you call it rush?

ice skating? minigolf? hahahah what is this? a so RorOty?
|
what do you want to know? greek life ain't for everyone, but generally people who stay in it love it.
it also depends a lot on the culture of your campus itself, the greek experience varies a ton depending on what college you attend.

lol most of those events suck so hard
in holland when you join a frat/sorority (they're mixed, although you form subgroups which aren't mixed) you go to a camp that last 1-2 weeks which is basically one big party

I pledged for two different frats...
...then dropped out once I realized I was joining a frat. The second time they almost got me, but I woke up again.

lol sigep at my school is pretty stereotypical frat. it is a fucking huge frat though nationwide so i guess pretty good for networking

SAE at USC has sort of both a good and bad rep.
the good is that they're known to be very wealthy, i'm pretty sure the average member's family makes $500,000 or more. and not surprisingly a lot of girls are at their parties.
the bad is that they're all known to be douchebags, very conservative, and racist.

If your the frat guy type (which would be wierd since your on TL) then a frat is is prob up your alley. If your just looking for new social groups to mingle with then you'd be a lot better joining lots of different clubs and see what fits you the most.

Sorry, but SAE is not following that schedule. That frat is notorious around a lot of campuses for being what LosingID8 has called them. That and they're like perpetually on probation on some campuses.

SigEp = Sigma Phi Epsilon, SAE = Sigma Alpha Epsilon they are known by those two names/acronyms nationally.
SAE at duke is made up of pretty cool guys who are rich as fuck. but fraternities differ so much depending on the school

Well, this is interesting. There are frats in my school, especially this one particular frat who have just started up recently and has a nice monopoly of various club organizations and even the student body government. The frat name was "Kappa Sigma".... they are an interesting bunch but I don't much about them, so I was wondering if anyone have any Intel of that frat, for those who have knowledge of them.
But yes, frats aren't really for everyone, as I know of it, they require a lot of commitment, bonding, and fellowship in order to blend in well. Basically, think of it as this way, if you wanted to make friends or be with a social group but failed miserably in the past, frats might be your other option to look into, it is easier and I believe you are paying like monthly or semester for "dues" so pretty much you are joining frat to BUY FRIENDSHIP AND CONNECTION. That's my 2 cents there.

SAE at cal poly was disbanded when one a freshmen died at one of their parties from alcohol (i think he was pledging). But they had a rep for being pretty gay anyway
