Anyone have any experience with these things? I saw an ad for one in the OCweekly ( a local periodical/news mag around here). + Show Spoiler +
I figured that I could try to do these in the downtime at work since I'm always just bored fucking up these forums instead.
I could REALLY use the extra cash as well.
So does anyone know of a legit place to do these or the best paying ones or whatever advice having to do with the topic?

www.cashcrate.com is legit.
You live in United States so you will have tons of offers.

Also waiting to know if cashcrate is legit

The best one by far is http://www.pineconeresearch.com/. It gives you 5 dollars per survey in a check and the surveys get some what frequent over time. Tricky part is finding the banner to signup.
|
Mechanical Turk is legit, I've used it on a few projects where I needed data tagged. Not sure how much you can make if it is all you are doing. My impression was that it was mostly people with call center jobs and stuff like that. Also I think the money you earn can only be used on Amazon.

They are all legal, they work by you being redirected and spammed with ads.

KGB KGB Career page
KGB Is a legit online job similar to these survey jobs you're looking for. My brother does it so I know it's not a scam. You basically go through like 6 hour video training to operate the software and answer questions sent to the website. You get a certain amount of money per question that you answer. I think it's $0.10 per question.
The questions are basically all answered on google. My brother would show me questions people ask like: "Where can you find paint in Lowes?" And he gets $0.10 to tell the guy paint is found in the paint section, lol.
Also stupid stuff like drunk people asking "why is my girlfriend mad" and you get credit for asking the guy to elaborate and give you more information, haha.
So yea, if you have an office job with lots of downtime you could try and do this for extra money. You have to sign up for blocks of time, like 2-3 hours as a "shift". So I don't know how much free time you have to be able to do this.

they are all scam they all redirect you to some page that make you sign up for newsletters and such... I tried to do once when i was looking for job but i could never get anywhere by following directions You will be better off working overtime at your current work or find "normal" job

Actually i've been checking out that Cashcrate.com site and so far i've apparently made $2.35, with $6.00 pending. I mean, theres no reason NOT to give your information to the site (Just address and phone number) because if they spam you just have mail from them blocked at the post office.

I used to do a bunch of those survey sites where it was like $1-$2 for a 10-15 minute survey. I remember Lightspeed Panel is legit. I also got payments from doing surveys for esearch. I was also part of another one but I forgot its name. Anyways, there are definitely legit survey websites, you just have to find them.
But always remember, if you think it's too good to be true, it probably is.
But the way I'm making some extra money right now is just use swagbucks.com as my search engine and just redeem $5 amazon.com gift cards. I've so far received $30 worth of amazon gift cards.
Basically you just use their search engine (combination of google and ask) and you'll randomly earn credits that you can use towards items (like gift cards). There are also special codes you can apply to get free credits (I just check the slickdeals thread http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1291711 for the codes)
Anyways if you want to sign up, PM me so you can become my referral screw it here's my referral link + Show Spoiler +
I average a $5 gift card every half month with normal searching habits and getting as many free codes in as I can

cashcrate.com is legit fo real? lol we should have tl.net contest on who can make the most off the site :D haha

I feel like those survey things have to be BS. I mean... why would they pay you for taking surveys, especially when they know the data likely won't be reliable because you are going to speed through it. Unless they don't care about accuracy I guess.

I do think the kgb one listed above is legit. I've seen them advertise on tv. Also, chacha is a similar service where you get some small amount for each response and you just look stuff up on google.

Yeah hasn't kgb advertised on TV where you text them and they respond to you?

It's not a scam. My brother started working for them in them mid-January and made like $80 so far working whenever he felt like. Also his friend who referred him to it has been doing it over a year and made about $50 a day doing it. It all depends on how much effort you put into it. If you crank out questions SC APM style you'll make like $50-60 a day, but if you just do it chill-mode you'll get like $20-30.
|
Amazon Mechanical Turk is legit. You're not gonna be rolling in the dough or anything, but it's cool to make a few dollars by doing some menial tasks. You can set it up without mail or credit card and just use it on amazon purchases, or have it transferred to an account.
|
Doesn't KGB charge $1 per answer? That's a large profit margin.
|
I usually just do the ones posted on campus. They range from 5-200 dollars. They're usually done by grad/post-grad students so I know they're legit. The one's I've done that were found online were more of a rewards type thing.
One time I got a free year of XBL. Schweet.
|
its legit but you get loads of junk mail (actual mail, to your mailbox) and phonecalls.. thats the reason I dont really do it right now, living at home. If i was living on my own tho where I dont care about getting mass junk mail, id do it, but dont want my family who own this house to be spammed for the rest of their life =[
|
Actually, Cashcrate.com is legit, I've been paid by them before (About $40). I used a fake name and address for everything, and a gmail account I made specifically for collecting spam. I only did the free offers that didn't require a credit card, they ranged from $.25-$1, but they're pretty easy. You'll get used to them so you can grind them out pretty quick.
I also did treasuretrooper.com, got ~$40 from them as well. They have their site set up more of a game, you can enter drawings and do contests, as well as get extra referrals (you'll get a % of what they make, while you earn no less).
Both worked for me, just make up a name/address/new email.
Edit: I had both mail me a check. Edit2: Both are simply filling out some info, doesn't take any long term time commitments, just to them when you have a spare 20 mins or whatever.
|
They work, just be sure to use a spam email so they won't bombard you with spam emails. I don't get real mail from them so that's fine. If you want to be extra cautious, use an address/info you find on yellowpages and stuff. I've used prizerebel and globaltestmarket and got a 50 dollar check from globaltestmarket and ~$135 of free stuff from prizerebel.
HOWEVER... imo it's easier and pays MUCH better to get a real job. Sure if you have extra time on your hands this works and all. Most sites have a referral system where you get a percent of what your referrals earn and that's how most sites earn money (haha i've thought of recruiting TLer's but that's against site rules of course). I got a few of my friends to do these things but getting a real job pays much better.
I got the following from Prizerebel: Razer Diamondback Zalman Laptop Cooler A nice 16'' laptop sleeve Markers A 1GB microSD card 2 headsets (they both broke ) An OCZ Mouse (which is really good for starcraft IMO) TOTALING a LIFETIME POINTS of 134.15 within ~3 months?
Globaltestmarket was just me filling out a survey or two a day, praying that I qualify so they can give me like 2 dollars. 50 dollars to check out. Took a long time for 50 dollars, like 2 months but it's cash whereas prizerebel is forcing you to spend it on items...
Was it worth it? Sure... I would have spent that time playing SC or watching Youtube or something unproductive anyways. Electricity costs? negligible... Could I have gotten more? Sure, I could have dedicated more time if I wanted to (but I would run out of offers aka surveys to fill out). 3 months for 134 dollars? I could get way more with a real job.
If you're a 16 year old who doesn't want to go out and get a job, this is good for you. If you're a grown man who wants extra money and already have a job sure. As a job alternative, no.
Still interested? Well one advice from me is to be safe. -As stated before, don't use a real email, make a spam email. -Other than that, use common sense with giving out your personal info and LEARN how to fill out the surveys so that it COUNTS (else you won't get points meaning you won't get money). -Some sites are scams so be sure to do some HW on your site. -Referrals help give you points and are the source of most of your points, but be smart about referring.. I think referring on TL is against commandment 5? -Be patient with you're earnings. - If you doubt your site, test it! I did that with prizerebel since getting to 8 points was relatively easy and I requested a mircoSD for a prize. I was amazed when it actually got delivered relatively fast.
That's about all the knowledge I have on these types of sites. BTW I've tried cashcrate but I never committed to it since I got lazy. Never got to the payout amount.
|
you get maplestory mesarz from prizerebel 0.0
|
|
@ 0neheart, yes maplestory mesos along with other game items are available on prizerebel. They have a prize shop you can choose from or you can request a custom prize that's over 5 dollars. Basically anything that's not illegal you can request.
Also, there has been a post about cash crate in the past: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=80525
And of course there's always poker... Now if only we could earn money from each SC game we play :O

you guys are a huge help, thanks alot. I will try out KGB and cashcrate

Let us know how you make out... I've wanted to try these but never thought they were real.

Nitting up poker would probably be more reliable than this and more profitable even at NL10 stakes.

Kinda sucks if you see paired hole cards and have to get up on the BB..

wait, Snet. I'm filling out the online application at the nearest location (which is San Antonio TX) and it's asking me Do you have reliable transportation to work? Yes | No lol wtf?

CM, I think you don't apply for a "career" job. You apply for an "Agent" position.

They have an FAQ explain all the things you need to know. I'm signing up now.

For those interested in being a KGB agent I just finished all of training and am waiting to hear back on my certification test results. If you're interested you have to do a short, easy challenge with a few sections (it finishes with a rather open ended question for you to answer as if it were a text, for me I got "What's up, Doc?"). If they like what they see they'll invite you to go through training which consists of training manuals online, and then a simulator to familiarize yourself with the system. At the end there is a 15 text test, the results of which will determine whether you are hired, sent back for more training, or denied and precluded from reapplying. Hope this helps.

U.S. Residents + Show Spoiler + Before you continue further in the Recruitment process, be sure to check that you are eligible to become a Special Agent and that you meet these requirements:
* Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age * Must provide a U.S. Social Security number or other taxpayer ID number * Must provide a U.S. bank account so we can direct deposit your payment * Must have a U.S. mailing address * Must agree to work as an Independent Contractor * Cannot already be employed by kgb or any of its subsidiaries * Must have access to a computer with a high-speed internet connection * Must have access to Mozilla Firefox or be willing to download it
Then, make sure the opportunity is right for you. Read on for details about the role.
What do U.S. Special Agents do?
Special Agents combine ingenuity with research skills to solve real problems for real people every day. Some questions require a serious answer, others require a sense of humor, and some require both.
When do U.S. Special Agents work?
kgb Special Agents fit their "Special Agent life" around their normal activities. When the kids are at school. When they're between college classes. Any time. Mornings. Afternoons. Or nights. Special Agents sign up for shifts based on their weekly availability. Since we want people 24/7, we've probably got just the times that work for you. And, since we know you want to be busy fielding questions when you are logged in working, weekly shift selection helps to ensure exactly that.
We require an easily attainable minimum number of hours to work - 8 hours per month or 2 hours per week on average - to make sure that agents remain engaged and up-to-date with kgb's processes. Special Agents have the freedom to select when and how often they work. But those who remain inactive after 30 consecutive days will be removed from our ranks.
What do U.S. Special Agents earn?
Imagine making some extra spending money by answering questions while you sit in the comfort of your home. That's what kgb Special Agents do. They use their superior question answering skills to earn extra dough just by being smart - and get paid for the questions that they answer.
Compensation is "per piece" and is based on response type:
* $0.10 (USD) for each full response - query is investigated and answered by the Special Agent * $0.05 (USD) for each validation response - answer automatically populates from our Knowledge Database and is reviewed for accuracy and forwarded on by the Special Agent
As our Knowledge Database grows, the amount of validation response work will increase. Some of you might prefer full response work, and others of you might prefer to zip quickly through validation response work. And, sometimes, the choice will be yours as Special Agents are always presented with more than one question and can choose the question they want to field.
Given these choices, which would you pick?
How would you describe the color green? (something like this would probably require full response) ... or ... Why is the grass green? (something like this would probably require validation response).
And, because of our weekly shift selection philosophy, we intend to keep the questions coming regardless of type so that you are busy earning while you are logged in.
So, if you're sure you want to become a Special Agent, click here.

man I can't believe I failed their test 2 times before passing. (first time I lost because of some minor discrepancy - I guess they are just trying to prove the point that you really need to do the research and math yourself once you have dates etc.) (the second time I just bombed the english part from difficult questions and then missed one of the last step questions)
I can tell that for this job you just need a few pages open to answer shit: Google, IMDB, Dictionary.com, Wikipedia, and if you want- any of those yahoo question sites.
|
yeah for sure. when I took it I didn't even think about using google or wiki. It wasn't until I got some random, off the wall question that I opened up google.
I like the fact that they will put the money straight into your bank account though. that's really convenient.
btw, i opened up an account on cashcrate and made a few bucks in an hour or so. don't know if it's worth it though. a lot of my forms didn't go through and I didn't get credited with the money.
|
damn I should have started doing this already. It seems that I missed out on a lot of bonus stuff since they had a big ad on the superbowl. >.<
anyways, I'm doing the training stuff and it's all pretty standard just taking a few hours to get through.
I was just thinking about this 'job' and I realized that it's slave labor. But it's ok for me because I'm working another job while working this one.
If you assume that you would answer 1 question per minute at 0.10$ each for an hour, that comes out to $6.00/hr. Pretty low pay by California standards. (not even counting the hours I've used already in signing up/tests/training) and KGB charge 1$ per answer to the customers.
there are some other rewards incentives for KGB employees Monthly Reward Programs With our monthly reward programs, you could pocket yourself up to an extra $50! The Top Cherry Award Our Top Cherry Award is an incentive for Agents to add the "Cherry on Top" and ACE quality by "Extending the Brand." Here's how it works: · The Top 10 Agents with the highest proportion of cherries to answers are chosen. · Those 10 Agents select one answer as their best "cherry pick" for award contention. · The community votes for their favorite cherry and determines the winner. · One Agent will receive $50 and the bragging rights of Top Cherry! Each Top Cherry Runners-up will receive $15.
a cherry is basically an extra bit of data or fun at the end of a question if you have leftover space in the text reply. So if someone texts in "whats the capital of Oregon?" You'd reply with "Salem. The fishing is great, do you know why?" This kinda reply makes more money for the company because it entice people to ask more questions. The Operative Choice Award The Operative Choice Award recognizes five agents for going above and beyond, be it sending an outstanding answer to a VIP, helping out in chat, pantsifying brand-damaging answers, and many more. · Operatives send in nominations throughout the month. · Operatives vote and the five chosen Agents will receive a $20 cash prize! Top Earners and Top Questions The month's top 5 earners and the top 5 Agents with most questions answered receive some cool kgb_ gear as well as free texting credits!

I did Cashcrate for a month. Got a $10 check and got out. I received about 5 calls a day for about 2-3 months afterward. It was the most monotonous of all the offers, with the most spam, but it is legit. And it also has the most potential to make money, but it all depends on your tolerance to do things. Treasuretrooper is really similar; I'm a member, but since it was essentially the same as Cashcrate, I didn't make a full payment worth of offers.
As far as actual Survey sites go, I'm a member of three.
Surveyspot http://www.surveyspot.com :
By far the best. I actually just cashed in a payment of $39 yesterday, that I accumulated in about 2 hours (max) of time, within the last week of doing surveys. Only problem now is that I've done all the offers, and now have to refresh the page every few hours to see if any new ones are available. They email me with opportunities, but I think their email system sucks, or something, because the response limit is usually met by the time I get start them.
As with most true "Do a survey; get paid" sites, they start the survey with a short qualifier. You answer a few questions, and depending on how you answer, you either get in or you don't... so yeah...
Biggest benefit to them is a lot of surveys (you fill out a big profile in a bunch of different areas in the beginning), most worth 100 points ($1). They say they take anywhere from 5-15 minutes (anyone that says longer that is usually worth more points), but even when you're actually reading everything, it's usually quicker than that. You can cash out at 1000 points (minimum), and they send the money instantly to the Paypal account associated with the email you signed up with, without any fees. I got my full $39 instantly.
Most survey sites run off a check system, where you're credited within 4-6 weeks, then can request a check when you reach a certain amount. Surveyspot used to be the same, and the points system is definitely for the better. Waiting 2-3 months to get a few bucks blows balls.

Pretty similar to Surveyspot. Truthfully, I haven't done a survey from them in months, because I don't check their mainsite often, and when I click on a paid survey from email, I either don't meet the qualifier, or the response is full. They are legit, though, and I have been paid about $30 from them. I don't know if they still use it, but when I last participated, they were still on the previously mentioned credit/check system.

This is the site I started with. I made about $50 with them, over the course of a year. Not absolutely terrible, as I waited for the surveys to come in, but definitely not all that great. They ran on the credit/check system, but I have no idea what they do now. Haven't used them in a year or so.
Almost every cash making site on the internet has some sort of referral system where you get a percentage of what your referrals make, so I'd recommend signing up for everyone, and then getting people in a similar situation to you to participate. With that said, I won't post links, but if you do sign up for any of them, please feel free to PM me and sign up under me. ;P
Seriously though, I've never used KGB, but Surveryspot is the best of the ones I've mentioned. Even if you don't sign up under me, it's the one I'd recommend. If you do sign up, fill out all the profiles, then click the "Take a survey" tab. If there's anything available, it will show you, and tell you what it's worth before you start it. Unfortunately, you don't get to see all available options, so if a point value isn't listed on the survey, and it only says the "Entry into the $25,000 sweepstakes", just start it, fail the qualifier, and repeat. You may not have any surveys available immediately, but check back a few times a day, and you should be able to get 3-4 100 point surveys, at least.
Edit: Actually, Surveyspot is one of the few that doesn't have a referral program. That definitely solidifies my views further that they're the way to go.
And I've done the Amazon Turk thing. Made my way to a $20 credit, and haven't done it since. In a way, it was the easiest, as I found a turk that was to write restaurant reviews for a site. Write 10, and you got $2, but there were many bonuses, so I made about $5. Really monotonous, but if you find one you like, it isn't too bad.

interesting, well kgb def sounds a lot more consistent than these survey sites. Once I start doing it I will let you know how it is.

Yeah, please do. I've been looking for a job, but haven't been able to find anything (even flipping burgers), and now I'm going to school so I don't want to overburden myself. If this turns out to work out for you well, I'd definitely sign up for it myself. Sounds a lot more interesting than Turking it, and you get paid in cash; not gift cards.
Until then, surveys give me a bit of spending money. I think I touched upon it earlier, but as far as consistency goes, Surveyspot is the only one that has multiple surveys available a day, if you check their site. I'm already back up to a 500 point ($5) balance after cashing in my 3900 either yesterday or the day before.

I signed up for the KGB thing (took me three times on the test), but they sent me an email a few days ago saying that their testing was currently full, and it might be awhile (if ever).

I'm guessing a job like this has a really high turnover rate, so just try back at the 1st of March..

Yeah, though I'll have to check the email again though. I'm not sure if they said they'd let me know if there are anymore openings, or if I have to take the test again to be eligible.
On the plus side, I'm averaging about $5/day on SurveySpot. Been a week now since I cashed in, and I'm already back up to $34.50. Definitely not the best amount of cash in terms of time passage, but for time invested, I'm pretty happy.

My girlfriend was asking me about this today. Thought I'd search TL. Not only is this a good source, but it's a charliemurphy thread lol.
Reason for bump: Anyone have current feed back or info on the best websites for this? Thanks.
and no KGB, my friend did that and did't like it.
