Today I was playing some games on ICCup feeling cocky as I always do when i start playing. When playing my friends or the computer ( rarely happens) I have an APM of 250 in TvZ of wich 130-140 is EAPM (according to bwrepinfo). btw I'm a D Terran, I don't play much ICCup and here's the reason: I started a game against some D zerg and thought I could with ease beat this guy, so everything went great untill i scouted at twelve and realised I've gotten 4 pooled -_- ... sigh
I tried to defend but due to one slip at the ramp the zerglings tore me to peices.
Second attempt this time with a bit of anger on my side I hosted a game on HBR where the enemy had be zerg ( you know ... for revenge) A C- zerg joins the game ... I thought , hey finally i get to prove my TvZ acutally IS at C- level at least. So the game progresses as it should I flawlessly 16CC:s and scouts that my opponent is going 3 hatch lurker. -hey ! this is going to be ez I run out with my first group of M&M and snipes 2 lurkers on their way to my base with the small loss of A marine I make my way to his base pretty easy since the lurkers died and I assumed there were no more on the way. I scanned the expo to see the sunkens and how many ... He had 2 and a lurker
I said to myself ... -Hey I'm actually winning this , so i gathered an additional control group of marines , still with the macro up and the tank just finished up i think. I broke into the nat with ease. Erased the nat , obliterated the drones and annihilated the remainder of the stuff situated there. I thought to myself that a victory was inevitable and just as I started my journey towards the 3rd, feeling like I'm on top of the world 2 ultralisks busted out of nowhere... -Shit My game fell apart , my APM sunk to the bottom as I realised i'd missed the second engineering bay , my science facility wasn't even started I had forgotten supply depots and I wasted a gigantic army on 2 lurkers in a panic attack move without sci -vessels on the way to the zerg base. The zerg took the middle and just macroed up I tried to do everything right but suddenly everything felt so hard and my fingers so slow, I missed every timing I attempted and my heart sank to the bottom of my stomach. As my second army wich took an incredible amount of time to macro up and I had even forgotten the irradiate for my vessels due to not putting 3 scvs in the secoond gas , When said army melted away in an attempt to take down the middle I GG:ed and ragequitted SC. I knew what I did wrong and I know that if I just play a bit more that zerg would've been no problem ( alot of micro misstakes in the end too) But in the end , there's no going around it I had lost to a guy wich actually shud've been defeated if I only had some more experience or some better nerves. This ...is why I rarely play ICCup

cause youre not as good as you think you are? keep playing imo. never die!
|
errr...just play more and as you said yourself, these things won't happen anymore.
This exactly like sea[shield]'s problem of being nervous when he plays in individual leagues and why he doesn't go too far into them even though he has the ability to do pretty well.
Just man up and play some more iccup games and if you have that much eapm, you'll be face raping D/C- zergs in no time.
|
you should ask Morrow[MB], you have have pretty much the same skill level, race and apm

Unfortunately, your desire to show your true power will fuck you over and over again, feeding an endless chain of obsession and TT.
And when he once attains the utmost round. He then unto the ladder turns his back, Looks in the clouds, scorning the base degrees by which he did ascend.

Haha, this sounds like exactly the problem I have. When my opponent plays standard (or close to standard) ZvP I can totally crush them no problem. It's dumb stuff I'm not expecting that throws me-- mass sairs + DTs in the midgame, weird drops in my main, etc.
Falling prey to this stuff just means you're actually not very good. Keep playing!
|
so you lost twice in a row and stopped playing? no wonder youre only D
|
A lot of the skill in getting to C- is about fending of cheeses, playing against weird builds and not falling apart in unfamiliar situations. You can't say "I'd be C- if only my opponent played the way I wanted them to", that's just bullshit.
So you don't play iccup because the lack of experience makes you lose games. Great, I'm glad you're really doing something about it.
|
When will all understand... you dont play standard because you want to play a good game, you do it because you can deny any cheese.
Get real, learn how to fend from anything. The only reason the pros play standard korean games is because they are so fucking good beating cheeses, that most of the times they actually have better chances playing long macro games rather than cheesing their ops.

If he did 3 hatch lurker and only had 3 lurkers he was no C-

That'd be humiliating, being a C+/B- and losing to a D. Wow.

Lmao, why so much drama?
Seeing ultras is no reason to be slowing down and missing all that stuff.
You're obviously not as good as you think you are.

Seriously. From your description it sounds like you only play short games and stomp noobs. The reasoning is that your early game is fine, and you have sick APM because it's easy and standard, then you get to mid game and you fall apart. If you want to know how good you really are, play 50+ games on iccup.
Edit: Typo

Ya this sounds about right. I'm sure you're right around the D level but never want to own up to it by playing enough games to get a good enough sample size.
