Okay i can't even start the install because of " the version of this file is not compatible with this version of windows your running. check your computer's system information to see whether you necd an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher".
I have tried to look at civfanatics but couldn't find something to solve the problem. I have also tried to change program compatibily to win 95 / 98 but it doesn't work either
I'm desperate. Any ideas ? ( Yea i know i should play Civ 4 but i need to wait two more days for the shipping and i just want to play this oldy :p )

Maybe you don't have the 64-bit version of the program?
Also if you use 64-bit you sacrifice the ability to run some legacy programs

Create a virtual machine using a 32 bit OS (you can get Windows XP mode for Windows 7 which is a virtual machine) and run it in that.

There was a patch for it, that I found a while back.
Lemme see if I can find it.
EDIT: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=193215
You probably have to do an install on a 32-bit OS, and then copy the files over before applying the patch.
Oh, and a caveat, the patch is only for Multiplayer Gold or Test of Time. I don't think vanilla Civ 2 has a fix.
EDIT 2: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ2/downloads/cedric/
In the event that you're running classic Civ 2, this patch that updates it to Multiplayer Gold might let you use the previous patch. Haven't tested, though, so don't take my word for it.

According to this, save/load issues come up in Windows 98 compatibility mode. Did you try switching back to normal or to XP compatibility?
