Reliable is what I need, I don't want to break another playing sf4 and megaman games. I wouldn't have bought this one likely if I knew of its problems beforehand, it was just an impulse buy. D-Pad style is less important, I can play with any of them as long as it works well and will hold up. Will look into this one though as well, thanks.

What games are you looking to play?
I have a Logitech Rumble Pad II which is pretty good for general action/racing/etc. but for fighting games, the MadCatz SF4 gamepad is the only pad that I know of with a decent D-pad. I love mine.

The xbox 360 controller is pretty good if not the best afaik. It probably has the best out of the box support, microsoft is pushing it pretty hard with games for windows.

Yea, I have the older model of that saitek pad (it was silver and black) and i had it for like 2-3 years with use about 10 or so hours a month maybe less or more. Once I got sf4 for PC my friend busted the dpad cause he doesn't know how to hold his thumb on it, plus my other friend played gief and spammed 360s all over it.
I tried to super glue it a bunch of times and eventually it just wouldn't glue properly anymore and it's junked.
Also, this pad is really bad because it doesn't read directions with 100% accuracy. (struggled jumping and throwing hadoukens or getting out wakeup SRKs sometimes). The blue one my friend got is even worse (same one as you), the pad seems to glitch out from time to time and you will stop blocking or miss a move, its really gay.
For emulator gaming they are pretty good though. But if you wanna play SF on a pad, most people just use a ps2 controller with adapter, or you can get one of the SF4 fightpads which are some of the best pads i've heard. Joystick is best though.

also the p990 and other saitek pads also suffered from the inability to have simultaneous multiple button presses or in rapid succession. as a result most of the time i ended up setting numpad keys for actions and just using the dpad for my left hand. kb still sucks for the same reasons though, but its a bit easier to use joystick style especially when you have moves like ragiing demon for akuma.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-6m-49-en-70-qc4.html get one of these you will NOT regret it. Let's you hook up 4 ps2 pads to your computer. Works perfect. Now you can play 4 player in emulators, just hook this thing up to your computer and output your computer video to the TV. Party time! If you don't have ps2 controllers, they are cheap and you can get cool ones like action sticks or dance mats or whatever for cheap and use them with various games.
They make ones for other systems but as far as I know this ps2 converter is the only 4 in 1 model. Also, I bought a gamecube one and it doesn't work with anything but the standard controller (ie no wavebird or steering wheel, though I hear it might work with DK drums).
I've tried lots of different pc pads and they all suck compared to console ones. Except maybe the 360 for PC one but you might as well just use a real 360 controller because I think there's a way to get them to work and I think they are cheaper. Or you can use bluetooth + some program to use Wii or PS3 controllers.

So I keep hearing, but I played SF4 and SSF2T on GGPO religiously and my pad lasted a long while until just today. Will check out the links given and pads cnamed though.
EDIT: Does the joypad/converter for PS2 controllers work with windows 7? Doesn't say on the page Thanks again

I´m quite positive almost all of them do. I´ve played with PS one/2 pads on Windows 7 with no problems and my adapter is like a pre-vista model...

yea I played quite a bit on GGPO and SF4 PC, both gamepads had a tendancy to fuck up. I remember one match specifically where I just could not throw a hadouken. I did the motion slowly, fast, regular, even tried reverse (akuma ) fireballs, and in the air and I got maybe 1 or 2 after 10+ attempts.
