Best of luck raising a team! It's tough, but definitely worth it. Keep us posted and good luck in the Spring season!
Are there any requirements for the eligibility of players in the CSL? I'll start the semester in UOttawa, but may graduate before the semester's end
that's fine . although I don't know how you can graduate before a semester finishes o-O
He's just THAT smart.
I'm in if you don't mind someone who hardly ever plays being on the team

No classes, just gotta finish, submit and defend my thesis. Though from what I've heard, that process is painfully slow
hell yea im all for this! [OH]Kuo OTW
From the CSL site:
* All English-speaking North American universities can register in CSL. * Players must be enrolled in their respective institutions as students (either undergraduate or graduate) at time of registration. * Players cannot be suspended by CSL for previous infractions. * The minimum number of players per team is four, but it is highly recommended to have more.
Seems like you should be okay Purind. And yea, I've heard it is a pretty slow process.....
Chef, Kuo, definitely! That's 4.
What tag should we use? I'm open to ideas, but should I assume that we'll stick with the [UO] tag for now?
EDIT - we have enough players!
ChefOU is minimalist and makes all our names look retarded, so I like that.
ImpreviousOU
KuoOU
hahahaha!

I've been trying to get people for a Carleton U team together, but I've only found a couple of people who are at all decent. I wonder if they'd allow two nearby universities with not quite enough people each to merge their teams? Although, perhaps it wouldn't work, given the nature of the relationship between Ottawa U and Carleton U.
Actually, they do mention that in the eligibility rules - if there are not enough members at one school to form a team, they can join a nearby school's team. at least, that's how I interpreted it. I'll try to find the exact wording.....

I'm more interested in doing this for kicks rather than being super competitive. I guess I'll have to play as a last resort backup if you want actually good players
Yea i think we can actually have a good team with our best players.
Found it.
http://www.cstarleague.com/rules/
Not sure if they are going to keep it for next season however..... You'll need to ask the people in charge of the CSL if it would be okay - and that would have to happen after we make our team.....
By decent, I meant able to maintain at least a D rank on Iccup. I've met one D+ zerg, and couple of people who are the sort who've never even really played bnet, just lans with their friends. It's enough for a team, technically speaking, but we'd have two players who'd be completely useless in a real game.
Oh, well then no worries I'll be the best player on the team if those are you expectations lol.
I have been PMing hazelynut, and, this time, they won't be allowing people to join teams that are not from their university. You're on your own man.....
Contact Kennigit - I think he goes to Carleton. Not sure though.
Well we need to force our pro gaming house (ella, gooser, David Kim, cake, wishbones etc) to join
I already sent out a few PM's about it, at least to the people who I think go to UOttawa. There is no way I got everyone though. And Wishbones is having problems with his internet at the moment.
So, should I go ahead and make an ICCUP team for us? We should have enough members for a CSL team already, and any more people that join are definitely a bonus.
I would be willing to join too. I am from uOttawa also.
Ahaha I would be so useless in the team.
Could practice and do my best though! That would be really fun.
What? I'm sure your epic SC skills could be put to use in our Ace matches.
Show some GEE GEE pride!
My availability is a big question mark, so adding my to the roster might be a bit risky, but then again im not very good so it might not even be a good idea lol.
So this all depends on how the game schedule and how busy Im going to be.
Im from algonquin college i highly doubt there enough for a algonquin team
............ Isn't Algonquin affiliated with UOttawa? I'll PM hazelynut about it.....
And, Onisparda, I'm in Engineering. I have no time for anything. Yet I'm trying to organize this. I'm sure you can find time for a game once in a while
I am happy to have been added to the roster, but don't count on me to win most of the time. I will practice very hard though. I promise!
Does anyone else always laugh out loud when you see GEE GEE written somewhere?
I don't think we can count on anybody winning most of the time..... That's beside the point.
Do you know what a GEE GEE is? It from horse racing, it is the first horse out of the starting gate. It is the one with the most enthusiasm, the one who wants to win it before the race has even started. GEE GEE's were very popular, and people used to bet extra on them.
This is not to be confused with "gg", which is a signal of defeat. It is GEE GEE! The mark of a Champion!
EDIT - Kuo, I've looked into it - UOttawa and Algonquin College are no more affiliated than UOttawa and Carleton..... And we're not allowed to have a joint team..... If we end up making a team for the next season, I'll definitely make a case for it (since there are several joint programs between the schools), but I can't make any promises..... So far, it's looking grim.
well i know 2 guys in algonquin that play sc, but i dont think one of them would be interested.
That blows man..... But there are probably more people at Algonquin that play SC than that. All you've gotta do is find them, and somehow convince them to be part of a team that competes with the rest of the schools in North America..... Not an easy task, I know.....
I'm going to be the first say - does it really matter if guys like kuo dont GO to ottawa u? We could take some pictures of us hanging out infront of tabaret to make it look legit. What I'm trying to say is, a lie is much better than a truth in this case.
In some ways, I agree.
However, if it is against the rules, and we get disqualified for it, is it worth it? And, since the people who run the CSL browse TL - and have seen this thread - it'll be difficult to get away with.....
Anyways, ella, are you in?
too bad there not a joint course or something il just go in that and drop out anyway were gonna talk about it mostly when we get back and lan as for now im going eat all the amazing cookies my mom made for me.
There are joint programs between Algonquin and UOttawa..... Would you be interested in Nursing, for instance?
The male-female ratio is around 1:50. VERY, VERY GOOD ODDS. I should know - Engineers and Nurses end up hitting a lot of the same parties. They're as crazy as we are.
Lawl, fuckk i already cant wait for next lan!
Okay guys, I made a team on ICCUP. Just make a new account if you are interested, with a OU or UO in it, to identify you as part of the team.
The link is here.

Just sent my application to the team!

We usually define students as taking classes, but a thesis is pretty much a super-class (at Princeton, I believe thesis is considered a class). So from my perspective, you're good to go, although hazel would be the one confirming this.

Merging is a no-no this season. There was a huge "merc" debate, and we opted to eliminate the whole merc thing (as planned at the beginning of the season, as you can see in the rules section). Gotta come up with your own people, but you sound like you're got 3? Just add on a couple D- players and train them, and you'll be good to participate, even if you won't win.

Same question that hackers face. Is the permban worth it? ^^
Thatur, you're in.
And, no, the permaban is not worth it. But still, it has to suck for people who are attending a school where there is not enough interest to form a team.....
Thanks man.
And guys - join up!
Update: 4th member on the team. Also - hopefully some more people see this.....
Update again: 5th member. We're able to field a team, so if you're just sittin on the fence about joining, let me know so I can pull you in.
We are up to 7 members now. I'm registering us next week, and once the registration closes, you won't be able to join..... At least, I don't think so. SO JOIN!
Apparently, we have an 8th member, but I'm not sure who it is..... Anyone know who "simon[OU]" is? I haven't gotten a PM about it.....
Also, guys, we should swap e-mails (for those who don't have them yet). It will make it easier to communicate. Just send me your e-mail in a pm (if I don't have it), and I'll send it out to everyone else.
Alright. I'm glad you came out of the shadows. Were you at the LAN?
nope!! *sad face* Nice to meet everyone!! So... how does CSL work...?
Also... does anyone know why my VPN Client and uottawa-WPA wireless keep disconnecting every 15 or so minutes when I bring my laptop to school? It is very annoying!! *sad face again*
You should have come. It was a blast!
I've always had problems with the VPN Client as well. However, it hasn't been a problem for me, because we have wireless hooked up at my rez.
The CSL - we'll get together on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night, and play SC against another school somewhere in North America. As soon as I register the team, I'll find us a room with internet access.
I'll also organize a Clan War against another team on ICCUP that I know is interested. I'm sure Wishbones could help me organize another against his team. They'll just be warm-ups for the CSL, so we can have a few test-runs to make sure everything works out fine.
YES!!! We have our unbeatable three-headed dragon of Impcheflos that's going to dominate everything and bring home the gold. GO TEAM!
We'll sort all of that out at a later time. Right now, I need to hear back from a couple of people before I'll sign up our team. If anyone here knows of anyone else that might be interested in joining, just for fun, then get them in contact with me.
Hey Impervious,
You register players at a later date and can continue registering them throughout the regular season. Send in a team registration whenever you know you can definitely participate but you don't need to wait for your entire roster.
Alright, will do
Which e-mail do we need to send to you, the university one?
Also if we are to get a room, I guess it would be in uottawa, would it be possible then to make it a club or something and register it in the student federation or however it is called?
Whichever email you use would be best, but we'll need your uottawa email to register you as a player.
That's what I'm working on. It's complicated.....
Okay guys, our match against Carleton is on Saturday. 2 days away. Are you guys pumped yet?
And we are officially at 10 members!!!!! More than I thought we would get!!!!!
So, who's going to put money on our match?
