Gaming Mice Advice

I've used a Logitech mx518 mouse for the past year. For $40 CAD it was obviously a bargain, but the sensor started to act unresponsively and eventually the mouse didn't give me the same performance It did. So I figured that I'd might as well get a new mouse with better performance. After some research I figure I get a razer mice along with their soft mousepads but I do not know what to choose. I haven't own a razer product before and your suggestions would help plently. I'm not tight on budget for this but I want a good mouse that can perform smoothly with no lag with the mousepad. I appreciate experiences and advice that are helpful.

If you mostly play FPS games and liked using the 518's side buttons, get a DeathAdder.
If you play SC more than FPS games and plan to get "serious" in SC2, pick up a Salmosa.

Can't really give suggestions on the Razer pads, since I haven't tried them.

(and try the search bar next time, I'm sure "mouse" brings up a lot of content)

i use a razer diamondback 3g and func 1030 mousepad. i have been satisfied with my razer

Razer salmosa is one of the best mice for rts games. I have one and I totally recommend it. Smaller than most mice btw.

i used a razer copperhead till one week ago. i must say it never betrayed me when it was in good shape. but i must say too that after 2-3 year left button started to randomly doubleclick everytime. that was rly superannoying. i recommend you to take a recent razer than copperhead

get it while you can, I think it usually goes for ~$40 usd

but i use the deathadder, which is similar shape and with side buttons. dont get the kinzu or whatever because a laser mouse still doesn't have that big of a advantage yet.

would I get the salmosa over the deathadder? for 20$ and if I didnt care about side buttons then yes.

but I use them for vent buttons so I can never change now

I have a G5 that's performed very nicely for the past couple years. I got a deal on it, but it's $50 USD retail.

I haven't owned a razer mouse before, but a laser mouse is generally going to be more responsive/consistent than an optical. They will be more expensive, but it could mean you don't need a fancy mouse pad to go with it.

I've been using a fUnc 1030 surface mat for like 6 years now. When it's too worn out, I'll get a new one.

I'll stick to my Razer krait for as long as possible as well. It's perfect for bw and games when you don't need the side buttons. They market it as an RTS/MMO mouse, but I don't see why it's good for MMOs

It's GREAT for RTS, though : ) It's also really cheap.

Salmosa is amazing and cheap, but it sucks for FPS games.
