I'm home again after a 3day Swedish smash event! As most of you smasher knows we have Armada () who obviously was there. This was my first smash meeting and it was soo nice! Loved every moment of it. It wasn't that big because of problems with the size of the place we were renting.. around 40 people.
The tournament were amazing! And Sweden really has good smashers wow! Ek (marth/sheik) and Calle W (falco/fox) really fought well against Armada! (you americans that think Armada is the only good in Europe will be sadly dissapointed at Pound 4!) And the team finals WOW!!!!
It was Helios (falco) and Ek (sheik) vs Armada (peach) and Aniolas (sheik) and it was only Ek left vs Armada and Aniolas in one of the matches, it was soo intense and suddenly Ek killed off Armada and everyone went nuts! And then Ek also punched out Aniolas and the whole crowd went totally wild! WOW! Everyone started chanting like "EK! EK! EK!" Really nice!
I wanna go to another smash event right now
I'm gonna get videos and pics soon!

looool that is badass bro XDD
ssbm is like one of the best "lan party" kind of games it's just so much damn fun!

I tried to get into competitive melee for like a week but I just don't think I have the reflexes for it. Fighters were never my thing.
Sure is a blast though!

Maybe you just played guys above your own level? I started 1.5 month ago and I gotten quite good fast. Tho I sucked in the beginning but since I played my friends who were noobs too it didnt matter

Cool, did you get any vids of yourself?

No I just got frustrated with the mechanics of it. I'm pretty impatient when it comes to things like that. Hence why I'm eternally D/D+

CW is good sometimes and sometimes he's better than Zhu and DaShizWiz it's true... hes very mental and if hes in a bad mood he plays sooooo bad and sometimes when hes in a really good mood hes fucking unbelievable

Hmm, who's this Calle W guy? I know about EK, since he's been a pretty big deal in Europe for years and played Ken during his travels abroad.

Calle W is right now better than EK, CW lost to EK in winners semifinal but CW later defeated EK 4-3 in winners final with an amazing comeback from 0-3 to 4-3!
CW has never been outside Sweden because his parents doesn't let him :/ He wants to come to Pound 4 tho, then he'll destroy everyone lol! (except mango I guess, thats armadas opponent lol)

Are we ever to get some pics/videos soon? I'm dying here Zoler lol.

Just a question out of curiousity. Would Super Smash Brothers for Nintendo 64 (the original one) be able to be as competitiive as melee? Because SSB64 seemed to have a lower skill ceiling. I loved the game for the N64 and my captain falcon pwned but imo melee and brawl aren't nearly as good. I hate how they made throws so much weaker.
|
64, as you said, has a much lower skill ceiling than melee simply because there are less technical things you can do. So yeah there's a competitive community for it but it's not nearly as competitive as Melee.

Smash64 is actually quite competetive, but can be quite ridiculous sometimes with it's 0% death comboes. However, it also lacks in a large amount of Technical skill (still has more than Brawl though).

SSB64 doesn't have as much of a competitive scene because you can't get Isai to play against himself.

I just youtube'd him. He uses pikachu... no way my manly captain falcon is losing to him. He's lucky I stayed within the my basement/my neighbor's basement smash64 scene.
On some of those "skilled" smash64 videos I saw jigglypuff and samus being used... They are both so slow, I don't get it.

Are you kidding me, Isai is so good he could 99 stock you.

Have either of you seen me play? No. So don't be so quick to open your mouths. This Isai fellow sounds pretty overrated. If he is ever in Denver or Kansas City tell him to call me up and we'll have an exhibition. Give me a week ahead notice so I can practice up though.... regrettably I think I lost my copy of smash64. I remember I rented that game from blockbuster like 10 times before realizing I should just by the damn thing.

Isai is more like Savior in his Prime than Jaedong, since he is just that much better than every other Smash 64 player.

No...even more extreme. He could probably 4 stock any other player with like at least 4-5 characters he's so good. I remember he went to Japan for a melee tournament, and all of the top Japanese players that supposedly were on par with him tried to play him. They got utterly raped. Isai is a beast.

I really want to see a vid. of the Ek game you mentioned. I like SSB but I really suck at it. Probably because I don't have a N64/Gamecube/Wii so i can't practice at all.
EDIT: JK! i just saw that you posted the vids already.
