However, seeing how you are in Korea, a project on SC might not seem so out of the ordinary and to put it bluntly, stupid. If you were in the US however, that would probably be an epic fail topic. Oh im in Canada lol, however, i did ask the teacher if a specific game was a valid topic, and he did say that i can write about anything, as long as i could write it like i really care.

There are probably some people who don't respect it because it's old, has dated graphics, and a difficult hotkey system so I guess you can make a case that people shouldn't judge something without understanding it. You could write how these inherent weaknesses are actually what makes starcraft so great. As long as you go into details about the competitive community, the complex gameplay, and the influence it's had on the RTS genre, you can write a strong essay. Just make sure you give context and terminology so that your teacher can understand what you are talking about.

I would think writing about SC being underappreciated in S. Korea (!) would be a huge failure that comes crashing down. But I don't live there - so I can't know.

![]() edit: There are a lot of stereotypes of Starcraft in the gaming world, before many of my gaming friends met me they thought Starcraft was all about 4pooling and was an Asian game and that all the progamers were 40 year old virgins or something.

Just my thoughts though, I see people post blogs all the time about how they want to write about starcraft or progaming etc and I rarely see and hear good results. It's just too much work. Sure you know alot about the subject personally but it's a dead end sort of path to write/do academic research on.

You probably had a shitty adjunct who felt bad and gave you a passing grade.
