I stumble upon this site one day. Basically it checks your DL and Upload speeds.
It's fairly easy to use, just click on the nearest host to your city and it will go. Once you do that it should give you your upload and download speeds then all you have to do is click on "copy forum link" then just paste it in.
haha, i like how in the other thread the OP says he likes his ISP and then puts frowny faces after he finds out his speed also hfs at the guy above i waaaant
DL is inflated somewhat though because of some silly thing my ISP does. They supposedly give a short burst of speed for the first few seconds of any download. I think mine should be more around 15Mb/s
It seems like it is okayish internet, but believe me the speed doesn't factor in how many times it drops and how high latency is in online games! I NEVER ping below 150 not even playing people in my area.
The speeds are mostly fine by me, but the latency in general is annoying. Only a couple times have I seen ping time to someone be less than 60 ms, and it's usually much higher.
What the hell happened to my ping? Also we are getting FIOS in 3 days so it will be interesting to do a comparison after that. Honestly, I find my internet to be very fast and it's amazing that it is considered slow these days.

EDIT: Even better!!
I challenge anyone to beat that.
Okay.
Edit: jtan, that's not nice, why would you turn off torrents :< And Dknight, get off government connections, you're not supposed to use those for porn.
At school I would get a very fast speed but who cares~ So frustrated that I cant get any better then 24/1. I cant put fast download to very good use If I cant seed back
If you have a ping less than 10ms, your ISP is probably hosting the test server and thus you aren't really testing your Internet connection at all. Pick another server and see what you get instead.
Comcast "power boost" screws the test up. It won't sustain more than 12/1Mbps.
It's not your connection's fault, that's because they don't have a good server to test your speed in Brazil... I got lame results from work too and it's a 34 Mbps connection.
Fucking knew I shoulda gone to a technical institute. Even at uni, my speed sucks.
After looking through world maps, Korea has a ridiculously sick download speed. Average of 21.2 Mbps is pretty nasty. I thought Japan on average would be higher, but apparently their download speed is only an average of 15.82 Mbps.
japanese internet is waay overrated. i got here expecting blazing 1gb/s downloads but im only getting like 40mb/s downlaod and 20-30mb/s uploads with 2-3 ms ping. i'll edit it the picture thing when i get home (i'm at school right now and i keep on getting a latency test error).
Last summer a 75-year-old woman from Karlstad became the envy of internet users worldwide
With her blistering 40 gigabits per second connection, Sigbritt Löthberg had the world's fastest internet connection - many thousands of times faster than the average residential link and the first time ever that a home user had experienced such a high speed.
So, after nine months with the ability to download a full high definition DVD in just two seconds or access 1,500 high definition HDTV channels simultaneously, how has Sigbritt's life changed?
The speeds are mostly fine by me, but the latency in general is annoying. Only a couple times have I seen ping time to someone be less than 60 ms, and it's usually much higher.
And my connection at school, a couple orders of magnitude up:
edit: Hah, it bashed GT even though we're both testing to the same server in Atlanta?
I can't even play StarCraft most of the time. It's so unfair. For some reason, the internet in this hotel is faster wireless than wired but my computer doesn't have a wireless card.
Edit: My ping is so rediculous. It blows the Australians out of the water. I'm not even sure how that's possible.
Normally I would ping less than 30 to San Jose, but recently it has jumped up about 30 to every server I ping in CS, download speeds have actually increased.
After looking through the thread, holy shit you guys have awesome internet...
What the hell happened to my ping? Also we are getting FIOS in 3 days so it will be interesting to do a comparison after that. Honestly, I find my internet to be very fast and it's amazing that it is considered slow these days.
Today we switched to FIOS and I tested my internet.
It's not as fast as I had hoped for I think the problem might be my wireless adapter because my mom's laptop is getting 20 MBs per second and she's farther away to boot. Still, its not that bad.
