My connection just randomly turns off for like 2-3 minutes multiple times per day. It's really frustrating because half the time it's while i'm playing a game and i'll just disconnect and lose Does anyone know why this happens? I have a D-link Wireless N router that I just got and it only started happening once I started using it so i'm pretty sure it's the reason why. I've only noticed it happening on my desktop which is wired into the router. I don't really use much else though.

place your IP in the DMZ or turn off the NAT, see if that helps. Otherwise just bypass the router when gaming.
edit- assuming you forwarded ports and all the regular stuff.

There's nothing wrong with my internet but sometimes i lose the connection to iccup for no reason

have you tried playing using an ethernet cable? try that, and if it still cuts out you'll at least know that it's your internet that's the problem as opposed to the wireless signal.

My internet went down for the first time in 2 years yesterday.

My old router used to disconnect randomly when facing heavy workload (many connections, large downloads, torrents, gaming, youtube...). Bought a cheap new router two weeks ago for 35€ and haven't had a disconnect ever since.

Mine is wireless and so not only does it download at ~5-10 kbps but it has 500-1800 ping (500 in off peak). My alternative is proxy internet that costs 2c per MB downloaded. I win.

If this problem is new since you got your router, it's likely a router issue. However, it could also be a problem with the connection from your home to your ISP. Do you have cable, DSL, fiber, or what? Bad wiring, interference sources on the line, noise on the line, etc. could be causing your connection to ISP to drop below the required signal to noise ratio to communicate.
Is it your router or modem that is configuring the connection to the ISP? What kind of connection (e.g. PPPoE, etc.)? Maybe the new router has some settings that are somewhat different than what you had before.
