I'm going to play starcraft again, because after seeing cataclysm, even if it was just a clusterfuck of people it still didn't look appealing. If I want wc lore i can just read wikipedia or something. Anyways, I need to decide on a race. SO I COME TO YOU THE PEOPLE. I made a poll.

And play Zerg. First of all, you get Day[9] with a slight Zerg bias. Next you get to come in during the Zerg age which means there will be more Zergs that usual, better help, and Jaedong plays it. You can't deny the Dong.

Here are a few ways you can select your race:

1) Play through the campaign. The backbone of the game imo is the campaign. I remember that it gave me the feel of every unit, and the completely awkward situations of the campaign teach you what unit is best for which situations. I remember in one of the zerg missions in vanilla sc, the enemy protoss went corsair/ reaver on me o_O. I was able to block it with my multi player skills, so it was a bit easy (and the enemy was like attacking every 5 minutes), but the underlying reasons for playing it are still present. Also, the campaign is fun

.

2) You can watch VODS of the top players of each race (aka Bisu/FlaSh/Jaedong) and see which one seems the coolest race to you. The reason why it will be fair to determine from VODS from Bisu/FlaSh/Jaedong is because they have shown incredable strategic knowledge and have exploited either the strength's of their races, or the weakenesses of their opponent many times. For example, Flash is very defensive, and one of Terran's strengths is its almost unbreakable defense capabilities.
3) Play 20 or so games with each race. This is will be beneficial because a: you are giving them all a fair trial and b: since you are completely new (or have forgotten 99% of what you knew about sc, I presume) you will have a very objective view about the races.

4) Go with what comes naturally to you. After following steps 1-3, you will discover that each race has its own mindset for playing with. Your brain will match itself with one of the mindsets, and you will figure out what you truly feel is the best race for you.

5) If you still cant decide, play random, and you will eventually find your favourite race.

Also if you hear anything about there being no protoss in the end stages of OSL/MSL this time and about 5 of the dragons slumping and such, dont think much of it, those are just insider jokes. Trolls trolling trolls and all, you know the drill.
