I really don't approve of the "[NSFW] Random pics that make you laugh" thread.
It does not contribute to the site, it breaks TL.net commandments, discourages posting quality, and (with the current content) generally has no place in TL.net. These forums have survived for the past 8 years or so without it.
I think the timing of the thread's creation was bad. Had it been opened before the SC2 beta, it would have been a fun thread with many respected members participating... Everyone knew each other back then, and knew the rules of the house. TL.net was really made up of hardcore fans back then. Now, I think everyone has had their fun, and that it's time to tighten up on quality control; there are tons of other sites that specialize in laughs after all.
With the influx of new blood thanks to SC2, they need to better understand that these forums do not exist for their own amusement, but as a central hub for all things generally StarCraft.
Please consider closing the thread once and for all.

lol, we've had threads complaining about 'posting quality nowadays' for years. Your image of the times before beta are very heavily tainted by the nostalgia goggles. There's nothing wrong with the picture thread, it doesn't hurt anyone and a lot of people (including me) enjoy reading it from time to time.

TBH I take your claim as personal offense because I've spent hours going through sites and contributing few times I saw that thread endangered by shit posting. This wasn't the only times I posted pictures there.
This is what you are supposed to do - make it good or better when needed by yourself, by YOUR posts. What you are doing now is backseat moderating. You are implying you know something better than TL staff.
There are many frequent contributors and most of people who post pictures there have 3-4 digit post counts.
I've never noticed bad posting that can be tied only to people who registered because of SC2.

the amount of views/listens/downloads something gets doesn't mean shit in terms of the actual quality
that thread is terrible and is loaded with duplicate memes and other terrible things. people do harp too much on how much better posters were, but there is no denying that is a terrible thread

the pictures have gotten better since the previous closing and now include a large number of comics and legitimately funny pictures.
lighten up, TL's not a church. as much as i hate the garbage posting on in the SC2 forum, I think the lol pics thread is fine.

Most of the earlier pictures in it didn't work anyways... and there was so much crap in that thread... I think people are remembering it in too much of a positive light. It's not really something you want to hack through

I agree it should remain closed but when shit wasn't going offtopic it was great.
I'd like to view it and let other people view it even though I have all of those pictures on my hard drive.
I'd like to save those hours I spent looking for and posting pictures in it.
