Well I'm not sure how to word this but... I've been laddering pretty heavily for the past few days now, and I'm on a MEAN win streak. Like 8 or 9 games. I've never really had a win streak like this before, except for right before I got promoted to diamond.
I'm a 2700 Diamond right now, ranked 2 in my crappy division.
Previous to this win streak, I had like a 8 game loss streak which made it really hard for me to try and come back, then I had a WLWLWL kind of thing go on. And then all of a sudden... things just clicked.
What clicked: PvZ: If he expands quickly, four gate-robo. If I deny his expo or he 1 bases for a little, turtle up and tech.
PvP: Basically micro wars vs 4/5gates. I think I've only lost 1 recently.
PvT: I haven't really played any PvTs recently... for some odd reason...
But, back on track, I can tell I'm gonna get masters soon! I hope! Just gotta keep winning! Wish me luck!
|
Woah! We're like exactly the same
2680 3rd in my divison protoss. My winrate is 50-50 all of a sudden and I can't quite make it into masters my PvT is bad. Good luck though, if you can do it, hopefully I can too ^^

I had like a 7 game streak and went probably 15-4 in my 4 day ladder session (that's a lot for me) as zerg. Maybe with the new master division, its making diamond league easier? Im getting master opponents here and there, so I hope to be in masters soon.
|
GL to you! I hope I can get to like a 15 or 20 win streak.
|
Sorry to umbrella on your sunshine but the losses will be back as soon as you hit a nice streak of terrans :p
Maybe this changes at your level but I dominate PvZ and PvP and win like 15% of PvT :s

I feel like it is making Diamond easier.. which is a bad thing for us guys trying to get promoted. I hope to get matched with more Masters opponents. And then roll them.

Why would you 4gate robo vs a quick expanding Zerg...? That sounds awful.

I dunno but it works. They get a late pool anyone, and drone pretty hard so if I pop in with a sentry, stalker and few zealots, I can usually pop a bunch of drones and with a good FF can snipe the expo.

So what's the difference between you going 4gate and this 4gaterobo except that you're even more all-in..?
Just gonna say, you're going to have a much harder time having that work in masters reliably. Also, if you get somewhat deeper into masters you'll start playing the same people more often, meaning if you're not doing standard you're going to have to mix up your builds or get crushed. I just played some guy named LuxuryMaster like 7x lately, over around 10 games, which were not even played in the same day.

Same went on a 9 win streak yesterday and today I faced mostly masters and won above 50%. Feels good, I took a 5 week break before the patch and lost like 15 games in a row once I started back up and only played sporadically since then, but now I play better than ever.
PvP: 3gate blink made the matchup fun again, mostly micro war vs 4gates which is fun and a pretty easy victory.
PvZ: Faking a push on 3 gates while expanding, going VR play on 2 bases and 4 gates/1 stargate into quick colossi typically.
PvT: Doing the old 1 gate expand on far pos or just 2 gate colossi on one base. Oh I've been trying the fast 1-1 gateway unit style into 2-2 mix of immortal/storm/gateway units and it's really fun.
I think I need to keep mixing my strategies up or I'll get bored and go on another 2 week break, in which case I'll suck once I return.

How is it more all-in? It allows me the option to apply pressure while teching.... Usually a FE zerg is ling heavy, then they'll try to switch to roach, in which I'll have immortals for the inevitable roach counter.

How can you not seeing it be more allin? The more production you go before expanding the further and further you put yourself towards getting all-in. Essentially, if they switch to Roach, and your Immortals can't "seal the deal" you will LOSE straight up. There's literally no coming back on that. Your economy can't even support 4gate robo! It can't even support expanding while going 4gate with a saturated mineral line! You're cutting a ton of probes as it is to do this, even if you only start cutting them after you're saturated.

Well it's obviously not a straight 4gate build with a robo added.... I cut no probes and can support 4 gates plus an immortal after. It's a matter of getting early double gas, balancing sentries and zealots.

You don't cut probes, ever? If you aren't, you should, because it's making your build inefficient. It'd actually be better to cut probes and use those minerals to expand sooner if you're going beyond something like 26-28 probes. Although your macro is failing if you if you can support 4 gates + Immortal production.

Well the objective of my build was basically to cripple the zerg by either sniping the natural or by forcing so many units/spines up to which point I'll feel safe enough to expand. And, no the robo is mainly for the obs, so that if need be, I can chrono an immortal out with a roach push.

Ya, I got it, but that's the entire point of a 4-gate allin anyways... you have to cripple the Zerg otherwise you lose... it's no different than other people 4gating :S. Yours just involves a robo which is why it's even more all-in, although according to you it's more powerful because you can transition into Immortals and apply pressure for a longer period of time... it's still even more all-in... just saying.
Don't mean to shit all over a blog though, if you feel I am, I'll stop arguing. And either way, if you feel as if you're improving and stuff is clicking I guess that's important in itself, because you're prob enjoying the game more as you go. So GL.

one good thing when you get promoted to masters is that you keep your points as well so you'll be in a good ranking
Man I want to get to master's league, do you think 5 games a day should suffice for me to use my 568 bonus pool? I'm also pretty terrible with a winrate of 50 point something win rate 2100 diamond, being faced with rank 1 to 5 diamond players (2600 to 2700)
