This is very much entering the territory of JA, SKT and KT dominance of the later years in Proleague. Basically leaves TSG with the role of CJ

With Jin Air and the billionaire teams around it doesn't seem feasible for them to win the tournament without a high class Protoss to begin with. And this certainly does them no favors. Basically leaves TSG with the role of CJ really turning into proleague (in a bad way) with strong divisions between the top dogs and the air forces, estros, and struggling teams at the bottom it could also turn into proleague in a good way if somehow, those teams and players still manage to find a way to resonate with their fans, regardless of their viability as championship contenders

Just needed their players to deliver a bit more (Armani came into shape about a month or so too late.) Nice is absolutely the best pick-up you can make in this league though, outside of maybe someone picking up Has? But I imagine Nice is a little cheaper and still contends as top-3 in strength for the Chinese/Taiwanese player slots. (This is assuming TIME is extremely expensive too.)

Well, my point was more that one of the biggest strengths of Proleague was that 'bad' teams and 'bad' players still managed to attract fans through some kind of inexplicable, sports black-magic. There are definitely going to be very bad teams and very bad players in CTC (as there have been in previosu seasons), but what I'm interested in seeing is if they start to grow on fans in the same way as KeSPA teams and players during the Proleague days. I feel like in the PL environment, a player like Misaki was maybe one stupid ceremony or one funny interview away from becoming a fan-favorite. Being online + language barrier (the lack of translation resources) really constrains these kind of opportunities. On the other hand, a bit-part contributor like Firefly really got to shine because of his IRL enthusiasm (winning vs Maru also helps) during the playoffs.

Half the fun of Proleague was watching Prime sending lamb to the slaughter. (By the way I have earned more prize money than Terror in SC2 since I once did a 20$ match with a friend) CTC is less fun cause you can't watch their faces tho

That was news to me. It also shows how a team league could help a broader ground base of players.

Yeah, my feeling is that the chinese players are allready getting stronger because of CTC. It s the fastest and easiest way to improve their Results to push their over all results.
