Okay, i'm trying to understand how the ladder works.
I'm 1800 MMR on the EU ladder. This weekend, I've got games within 60 seconds on queuing up. The problem is that the majority of games are against people in Korea. I'm located in Sweden, which causes the games to lag with high latency.
Both i and my opponent get frustrated over the lag, and they ask why i'm queuing up on the Korean ladder (which i am not). If i'm about to win a game, they usually force the game to lag heavily or they just drop the game which results in an "undecided" result.
If i wanted to play against Koreans due to lack of players on the EU-ladder, i could just switch to the KR server myself? I don't understand why blizzard feels the need to interfere, without me having a say in it.
The only way for me to force play against EU players is to clog up my own internet connection when searching for an opponent, and then releasing it when the game starts, which is ridiculous.
Can someone explain the logic behind this decision from Blizzard?

You are not supposed to be matched against Koreans, unless u're using VPN without knowing about it. I play at 2200+ MMR and i won't be matched against koreans unless i search for 300+ seconds or through VPN.

what turn rate are u getting against koreans? mby blizzard estimated your connection is good enough to match u against them almost instantly. By good i mean TR16 low or better.

The game does not show me the turn rate in-game anymore, so i don't know what it is. Yes, i think that's what blizzard estimates as well. But, when the games start everything is super laggy and then a minute in it's less lag but the turn-rate is lower, which causes someone to cheeze early to end the game asap because micro will be a pain.
I just wish Blizzard gave us players options, f.e:
a) check-box to choose weather or not to play outside a current region. b) setting a preferred max turn-rate/ping to potential opponents c) observe turn rate in-game d) check-box for allowing blizzard to do a) and b) automatically - etc ...

press ctrl+alt+t to show turn rate in game

Ah, thanks! I queued up again by the way (Sunday, 3pm) -> Korean.
TR: 8 | Extra High
The lag is so bad it slows down the game by about 30%, together with the ~1 second delay when performing an action. This guy typed something in Korean and left the game after about 1 minute...
Next game: Canadian on EU-west ladder. Playable, though.

if games are laggy in ranked and you leave fast enough, does it still count as loss? haven't played much remaster ranked so idk

Yup, leaving is a loss. It’s not like the old 2 minute rule for ladder. And also, even if you try to disconnect or alt+f4 while you pair someone, it will still give you a loss.

damn... so you're forced to play out laggy games...

Yes, and it's not a low amount of games either i'd say prob 50% of my games are queued up against koreans, even if it's peak time in europe :-(.
Last night i que'd up against prob 5 koreans in a row, one of them which was 2500 mmr and i'm 1800-1900 mmr lol

I know Blizzard was messing around trying to improve the matchmaking, and shortly after they announced that I started getting weird laggy matches against Chinese and Australian players. I don't know if they're still doing that, though.
I'm on the west coast of the USA, and when I play late at night I almost always get Koreans. It's probably just because the system finds a Korean in my mmr range faster than in NA or SA, because it might be 3 or 4 in the morning in those regions, but it's the middle of the day in Korea. If you queued up at 3pm in Sweden, then it's 10pm in Korea - peak time. It might just be that there are many, many more Koreans on at the time than EU players, and the system is favoring finding a player near your mmr QUICKLY rather than finding a close player with low lag, so it finds Koreans first. Ideally it should pick a closer player, but in my personal experience that rarely happens when the Koreans are awake.

ive matched against koreans without lag since the latest change. But i have played a few people who started to lag unbearably when i began to win. Coulda been a lag hack.
